I got some decent 52s from a real clean 90 k5 with 100,000miles that probably never towed or had weight in it. Well i got them in my 85 m1008 and they are real flat, they only have 4 leafs plus the overload. Not sure how much up travel i could possibly have from them without them negative arching. Just trying to figure out how others are, its looking like I might need to a add a leaf which will cause other problems, bc I already have a zero rate so the pack is pretty thick. My spring plate is really close to my pitman arm and I had to get a new steering arm so my draglink wouldnt hit the spring pack.

factory springs are suposed to be flat or negative arched.

Mine were pretty flat, but after I caught air, my springs now have negative arc. Taller bump stops would have helped prevent that problem.

I'm surprised the springs you got are as flat as you say they are. Most newer springs I've come across have more arc than the early model springs.

ok sounds good, ill run these and see how long they last.

I think the heavy diesel engine is the reason your springs are sitting flat. Mine have a decent arch to them. 5 leaf +overload, only about 2k miles on them

Yeah its not helping. But with everyone running big winch bumpers and winches, its got to be about the same as mine. I dont have a bumper or batteries in the front.

It seems either like these springs came with either 4 or 5 leaf packs and I got the 4. I really want to ditch my zero rates, but Im using it to move axle forward even more. O well I keep it how it is, if it doesnt work out I will try adding another or different leafs.

What steering arm are you using? Also are you using the zero rate to move the axle 1" or 1.5"s forward? I wanted to move my axle some more but was worried about draglink end to springplate interference

1.5" forward. I test drove it a while ago, my only problem was drag link was rubbing on my leaf pack. That was with an ORD arm and bent drag link. Since then I got a NWF arm cuz its higher. Other problem might be is that its so far foward that my pitman arm is right above the spring plate. So I dont know, I might try and get a flat pitman arm with no drop. Ill figure it all out after I hit a trail and test it.

I just re read what you said, didnt realize your talking about the top draglink end at the pitman arm. Yeah it looks like its proabably going to hit. I think one off a ford van is flat which will help.

Gotcha, I will stick with what i got now. I'll mess with it in a few years
