How hard is it to convert a gas truck into a diesel

I can get a diesel with 8000 miles for less than 500. What Do I need?

I like to get rid of the water issues and the torque and black smoke

Search "diesel swap" in all forums and do some reading. I'd write it all out again but it's been done so many times already.

Also, it really depends on what kind of diesel you found for $500...

4BT? 6BT? Perkins? Dmax? 6.2? PSD? 4V53? L10?

The 6.2 is not the world's coolest diesel, no. I love mine, don't get me wrong , was part of why I bought my CUCV... but I'd sure as heck not go out of my way to swap one into a gas truck.

Now, a Cummins...
