How I mounted my Art Carr shifter (pic)

I was going to ask you how you managed to get the cable oriented correctly instead of sticking 8" out the back. Then I noticed the other mounts... VERY nice. Opens up a whole world of mounting options doesn't it? You can point that cable straight down if you want... I think I’m going to take the B&M out this week end and have fun with a sledge hammer. I’m SO glad to be getting rid of it…

Yeah, you can orient tht thing anyway you want.

Now you can put the reverse manual valve body in the tranny, spend 15 min with a small file making the gates a little easier to get thru between 1st and reverse, and be able to grab nuetral or reverse real quick. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif
The reverse manual Valve body puts 1st gear where 3rd or 4rth used to be.

Yep, that's on my to do list. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I wouldn't even worry about taking the thing out. I filed mine in place and all hooked up. When I was done I just blew it out with the air compressor and called it good.
These things are so bomber tough that I don't know what would really hurt them. Well explosive bunnies might have a effect on them. /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

Me too. Like I said, we’re going to wind up with identical vehicles when you get rid of that sheet metal!

I’ve already got the Th400/203 setting out along with all the other "to do" project supplies. Now to get the RMVB and then the Th400 rebuilt and installed. Funny thing though, Art Carr claims the gate plates are different for the Th400...

Brandon, you wouldn't happen to have a pic of the file work would you? How much do you take off? I'm guessing you just round out the 2 points so you can sort of just slide through without making a full 90*?

I don't have a pic but I will try to take one Sun. when I get to the Shop.
If I remember correctly I filed mine on 45* angles. I left about half of the tooth sticking out off of the side plate and connected that point to the other side end of the tooth.
I still have to run all of the gates when shifting slow, but in a panic situation all I really do is slap the shift lever the direction it needs for Neutral or reverse and hang on.

It's not really a shift as much as it is a desperate attempt to save myself. /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

After reading your post agian Russ you have the basic idea with the rounding of the corners idea. By the way watsh the down shifts when you go RMVB. When I'm in double low and down shift it feels like you just hit a brick wall they shift so hard. Going into 1st gear from second is a stop to do it type thing.
