well, i tore her down, and removed races/bearings/inner seal from one of the hubs....now im getting ready to put it back on, and it goes on the spindle so far, but the inner bearing won't go over the "hump" part of the spindle to seat fully. so i thought maybe i had the wrong bearings somehow...so i took the old bearing and it sure enough doesn't slide over the spindle either(in hand, out of hub)....i know that my inner seal is the right way so that's not stopping it.....it's the bearing. are the tolerances so tight that i need to "motivate" the hub on there with a block of wood or something????

oh yeah, i searched...but couldn't find any answers to this except that the inner seal is backwards, but mine isn't....i even tried it both ways to be sure.

thanks ya'll

The inner bearing races aren't a press fit (i.e. you should be able to slide them on by hand). If need to use a piece of wood and a hammer to get the hub on, that's ok. If it takes more than that (or if it won't go on at all0 then you have the wrong bearings.

could there be something wrong with my spindles if i can't get the bearings on???? when i test fit the old bearings....i had to knock it off with a hammer cause it got stuck.

Mine were like that until i put some (VERY SMALL AMOUNT) grease on the inside of the bearing, then they slid right on... did you pre-grease everything?

i did...i packed the hell out of the bearings actually. made quite the mess. haha... ill try putting some grease on there tomm and see if that helps. i will tell ya when i removed the hubs from the spindles they were kinda stuck on there too...figured it was because the bearings were shot(and they've been on there for 20years) haha.

I just did that to both sides of my 60 and one side was a little tough to get back on. I put it on the spindle as far as I could then slid the outer bearing on then put on the first spindle nut and tightented it up real slow and it slid everything into place.

If a stub shaft has been broken in that spindle it can swell the spindle which makes removing/reinstalling the hub practically impossible.

Just went through the same exercise. If the old bearing will not fit on well usually there is some corrosion on the ramp or on the spindle bearing area. I ended up cleaning the area up to the bearing land with scotchbrite. Be careful not to take any material away from where the bearing rests on the spindle. Grease on the spindle after cleanup helps a bit.

have a Warn full float, basicaly a 60 spindle. I have to have both bearing in the hub to aling it perfectly straight. other wise it will not fit trying to put the hub with just the rear bearing. It just won't go. Had the same problem just trying to put the bare bearing on the stub shaft. Just something to think about.

All of the above is true.

I have problems with mine at times but the bearing MUST be square and lined up to go on. Just keep trying it and it will go.

Be care full removing it if it sticks and is not fully on though as you can ruin the back hub seal.
