How long did your trucks run on the original drivetrain?

I got mine in '95 with 79,000 miles. It now has 167,000 miles on it.

I believe the front 10 bolt is the original. I'm personally on the second rearend, and I believe it's the third total for the truck. The transmission was replaced in '92 from the paperwork I saw. The engine and transfer case though I believe is still original.

215,000 before the TH350 crapped. Pulled the motor apart while everything was out and there were minimal ridges in the bore. Not bad at all for those miles.

700R4 went 110K or so. 208 went 150K. 10 bolt went 115K. Front 10 bolt went 115K+ (traded it), 305 went 105K+ (swapped in a 350 sold the 305 still running)Rear driveshaft went 160K, front driveshaft went 160K and is now retired to spare duty.

I'm not sayin ANYTHIN because this close to my "transformation" knowing my luck somethin will take a crap.

i got my 89 K5 with 120k on it. previous owner towed a 4k stump grinder with it for awhile. he blew the gov lock at 90k and completly rebuilt the rear w/ a trutrac. i drove it to about 140 then the tranny started having problems shifting. plus the torque converter stopped locking up. replaced that with a built one and thats it. motor doesnt burn a drop, puffs a bit of smoke on start up, but thats common w/ the stock heads' valveseals.

When I got my 75 burb, the complete drivetrain was original with just over 300,000 miles. Since I bought it March of 2002, I've put about 80,000 miles on it. Fall of 2003 tranny got full rebuild(it finally died), spring of 2003, 3/4ton axles went under it(they didn't need to, but 1/2ton axles and 3.08's do not mix well with big tires), still has original tcase and original 350 motor.

I got my 1986 K5 with about 140,000 miles on the clock :

305 was WEAK and tired
TH700R4 shifted well ( I assume it was rebuilt at some point )
NP208 made it through the test drive but died shorlty after that
10 bolt front was fine
10 bolt rear had already been replaced with a 12 bolt

I just bought a junker 1985 K5 with 136,000 miles on the clock:

305 runs great ( atleast as it did from GM standards )
TH700R4 is original and shifts just fine
NP208 seems to be doing great
10 bolt front is just fine
10 bolt rear is on it last leg - the G/L is coming apart
all drivetrain parts on this truck are original as far as I know.

I had an old 1983 GMC K3500 with close to 160,000 miles on it :

454 BBC ran great but someone had been into the motor already
465 still works to this day and has been in three different trucks
NP205 is in GREAT shape stiing on the garage floor
Dana 60 front axle is now in my 86 K5
Dana 70 HD rear axle is still in that truck and doing well with an unknown amount of miles on it .

Years ago I had a 1977 K10 with 170,000 on it :
350 ran very good
465 is still going today and is going in my 86 K5
205 is still going strong in another truck
10 bolt front axle was in good shape
12 bolt rear axle was in great shape
All drivetrain was original and well taken care of .

In my opinion a stock truck will rack up some serious miles if taken care of .
NOTE : this statement does not apply to G/L rear 10 bolt axles !
