How long is your shaft?

So I have a 1978 K5 Blazer with 37's that required a little bit of sledge hemmer'n to the fenders to avoid rubbing.

Not sure if I have a 4 inch lift or a 6 inch lift. Or maybe a 5.24 inch lift? No idea how much, but its lifted.

Anyway, my rear drive shaft is beat to hell. Its got really bad dents in it.

Can I just get a stock drive shaft? How long is your drive shaft for a lifted K5?

If its lifted, do I need to measure my shaft and find one that is similar in length?

Thanks.

The only way to get it right is with measurements of what you have. It's not likely there's a stock shaft that will fit perfectly, but you can check the classifieds for somebody selling one from a similar setup truck. Think about any other changes you might make first, like swapping to another rear axle or other driveline mods. If the only thing you want to change is the shaft length, a driveline shop can re-tube what you have. Sometimes just ordering a custom shaft is about the same money and then you have new yokes and U-joints. Fortunately these leaf spring setups don't need a lot of slip travel in the rear.

Seconded the good advice by @Blue85
Get one that’s measured to your application
On the site linked there is a page specifying how to measure

I’ve had them make me several. Price was competitive, quick turnaround, no issues on quality

if a blazer and more than 3" min lift in the rear start looking at a C/V head for the t-case end . if 4" and more just do the C/V head and be done with it .

lots of guys if they can do a bolt on yoke at the t-case rear do a flange and convert to a ford super duty front 1350 C/V head shaft used and just shorten it and a lot cheeper in the end . i did it for a build a few years ago and worked great .
