Came across this again while browsing for parts (it's been up for a while without any takers), and noticed the gauge cluster looked odd.

Is this tachometer setup an obscure factory option? Or some aftermarket gauge? I haven't come across one like this before. :dunno:

I would believe that to be an aftermarket gauge. The 67-72 were below the face of the cluster like the rest of the gauges and layout is similar to the speedometer.

read a magazine atical years ago .

about 2% of 1/2-1ton got them .

and that's a nice job on install of a aftermarket one there .

I owned a '71 K5 CST that had a tach dash...and was stupid to let it go with the truck when I sold it,after I learned the dash cluster alone was worth about as much as I gave to buy the truck..
I have seen a few others in C-60 sized trucks from '67-72 also...those also had a vacuum gauge sometimes too..
If I remember right, the tach was where the gas gauge usually is,and the fuel gauge was moved to where one of the idiot lights would have gone..

Yeah, your right--been 20 years since I had that CST...its the later 73-87 ones that had it where the gas gauge usually goes...:doah:..
