i saw the thread where ira did the calculations, but im still not sure how many i should use for my tires. ive got 42x14 iroks on H1 rims. will 2,000 be enough or will i need to use more? thanks

im wondering the same thing for 42x15tsl's.

but it looks like going a tad overboard doesn't hurt anything....are you gonna mount your own tires man??? or take them somewhere??

im going to mount them myself. since they are 2 piece it should be pretty easy, once i cut my runflats down

The bigger the tire the easier to mount... I think I mounted 4 38 TSLs on some 15"s one time for a buddy in about 20 min...

I have 42inch bias Iroks on hummer wheels and used about a pound of airsoft pellets in each... it works pretty well, but I still get some vibration from it... it gets better after the tires heat up (bias) but does an ok job...

You guys are using Airsoft Pelets to balance your tires internally???? Dose this work better or worse than that dust stuff they used to put into the tires???

How dose this work???

i was at the shop getting tires on my big rig the other day...and the guy who works there had this powder stuff. he said it was part sand, part glass and he said i needed atleast 1bag per 42in tire....the kicker you ask?....each bag was 30bucks. 120 to balance tires...HELL NO! im going to use airsoft's and save some money for beer. :)

the dust stuff is called equal, its downfall is clumping due to moisture in the tire... the airsoft pellets are hard plastic and are not affected by moisture so they ten to work better in our application.

The air soft pellets come in several weight sizes .12gr (standard), .20gr, .25gr, .28gr and I think .30gr. I've read the .20 and .25 are the recommended weight bb's to use for your tires. Anyone else heard the same?

i dont see why it would matter. whatever gets you to the weight you need and is easiest to put in/remove, cheapest, softest, whatever floats your boat. fwiw i use golf balls in my 42s. some people just use water/antifreeze. imo it doesnt matter with this large of a tire.

I used the .20gr type pellets. Seems to be working great for me so far. :dunno:

No other type of wheel weight used. I first heard about them reading a tech article on Pirate about weld-in beadlocks. I was installing weld-in beadlocks, so that's why I went ahead and used them.

As has been posted this is the company selling Dyna Beads. Has all the info you need there. Including recommendations on the amount to use by tire size.

I'll use that info but get airsoft pellets. Most recommend the heavier ones.

I wouldn't use golf balls. Too heavy. Probably could get away with something larger than airsoft pellets but Dyna Beads are much smaller. More like granules. I don't know why.

so you use them in place of or in addition to wheel weights? cant say I recall anyone doing this before

I read about it quite a while back in either Petersons 4wheel & offroad or Offroad.

ive got 42x14 iroks on H1 rims
Is that right 42x14 ?
