How many cans of spray paint will it take to paint my 84 CUCV including the top.I know somebody know's.I started to put a good paint job on it,but I would have to replace all the door and glass rubbers, chrome, and all the interior panels to make it look good so Im leaving it OD green. After a trip or two it wont matter anyway.

My crewcab pickup took 24 cans of primer and 25 cans of paint.

I would anticipate then, depending on coverage, that you could do a K5 with ~16 cans of each.

When I did my CUCV last year I used actual paint from the body shop, and it was way more hassle than it was worth and I prolly won't do that again, so I couldn't tell you :)

years ago my truck took 21 cans of flat black.. no primer and no sanding:haha:

Is that the same paint you still have on your truck? It hasn't peeled or chipped? What kind of paint was it?
thanks,
James

7 can's of flat black primer to do the body, no top. i used a real good quality paint, and so it only took about 3 coats to cover it.

nope that isnt it...

this was years ago.. never took any pics wish I did though...

21 cans of flat black from the dollar store....
then a sticker from pepboys.. it was a huge sticker of a skeleton ripping out the side of the truck and it was awesome.....

now i have primer from autozone.....

I scuffed the body on the burb with 600 grit and used 8 cans of grey primer and 6 cans of ultra flat od green , 4 cans of uf brown ,4 cans of uf black and 2 cans of uf light tan . This was all krylon rattle can and I've had to touch it up a few times after my wheeling trips  . It hid's the dent's and dirt really well . I also painted the wheels to match .

I wanna see pics when you are done, since I'm probably going to go OD green soon
thanks,
James

:haha: :haha: :haha: I don't think house paint is the best to use on a car. I guess the rust must be pretty extensive.
:xmas: Just wanted to throw this one in there.

oh I know it was a terrible idea...but at the time we where broke high school students and it was cheap....the car was heap then..and I'm sure its worse now...just couldn't believe the paint was still on it 10 years later....but I would never recommend doing this to anything..

when I paint I do it with compressor/paint gun/automotive paint
