how many guys are running fuel cells w/gas guages??

if you run a gauge you can't use foam. I would rather not have my fuel slosh around then have a needle telling me how much is left. with a cell you could always just look in it or get a clear tube that runs from the top to the bottom to use as a sight level.

You need to know what type of mileage you get on the street and trail. my trail truck averages 1 gallon per hour. so if I wheel all day I would need to have a cell smaller then 10 gallons to risk running out. get a 20 gallon cell and don't worry about a gauge.

how you mount it is also going to dictate the size, shape and material the cell is made out of. most of the plastic ones recomend you mount them on a flat surface while the aluminum ones can be hung by straps like a factory tank.

Here's mine.

I went with that size and material because the price was right.

well what i really want to do is get a large tank or cell for my ford...i need a large one ...it will be mounted on the flatbed im building...i want to get one with a guage....this will be my tow rig and prolly never see a trail...

whats wrong with the stock tank that s on there now? If its rotted out another from the junkyard would be a really cheap replacment. My dad had a F100 that had dual tanks. that was a lot of gas.

the biggest thing I have seen for a cell is 32 gallons.

if you want something with a sending unit already included you will need to go smaller.

my whole fuel system is screwed so im just gonna start over....the selionid to swich tanks doesnt work, the guage doesnt work and one of the senders in one of the tanks is bad...i really would like to have a tank that could hold like 50 + gallons of fuel bed mounted....a 460 aint to easy on gas...

i know this is gonna sound dumb but what about the large tanks that boats run they are like 50 + gallons...im not to worried about bed space cause it wil have a flatbed...

seems like a little maintenance and you would have two tanks that hold lots of fuel. there are only a few parts to a fuel system, tank, pump, hoses, gauge and sender.

if you have 2 tanks then the gauge doesn't need to work. run one tank until the truck stumbles, then switch tanks. The gauge in my first car didn't work and I never ran out of gas. if you know what the MPG is and the size of your tank you know how many miles per tank you can get.

yeah ive been messing around with this fuel system for some time now...the po had some shoddy wiring done and im not sure whats all wrong with it...im about to wire my holley pump up to one tank then when i run out of gas in one i will just pump it from one to the other...

Run a manual switch. Mine was right between the door and the seat on the floor. As soon as I heard the electric fuel pump making a ticking noise, I would reach down and switch tanks. I think NAPA stills carries them, if not try a tractor place

I run a summit 20 gallon that came with the 0-90 ohm sender with an autometer fuel guage. Works perfect
