ok... so i just checked the mileage on the truck im building up and it has 149,649... and apparently it still runs.... is this unusal??? i want to swap my grandfathers 350 in it but he won't let me... its efi... it only has 86,000 miles on it... poo. so how many miles do yall have on yalls engines??? just curious... would be nice to see some high mileage rigs.:D

current k5 has 75 on it,89 3/4 ton has 125k had a 89 2wd 1/2 ton with 290k on it when i sold it.

high!...

I've had at least 6 trucks with 200+ thousand miles on them, with original engines and trannys, rear ends,etc...my 81 G10 van had 176,000 on it when I decided to put a V8 in it--the 250 six still ran great though,I just wasn't satisfied with its power(and the 307 I put in had over 130K on it,only needed a timing chain and gears--not much more powerful than the 6 was though..)

I think every truck I've owned had at least 100K miles when I bought them..my 79 C10 was "low mileage"--only had 116K on it when I bought it(original mileage!)..probably had the least miles of all the vehicles I owned..

I see lots of older GM vehicles with 200-300 thousand miles ,with the original drivetrains...as long as you keep clean oil in them, they often outlive their owners!..many times the vehicle rots away ,and the engine/tranny live on in another chassis around here..

anyone else not have a clue? my blazer is on the third motor than i know of.

yeah... the only things i have to fix is the timing chain and powersteering pump... thats about it.

230k on my '88 1500 work truck 305, smokes on startup
349k on the motor in my 77 k5, smokes all the time

Mine is a 77, when I bought it 3 years ago I was told that the speedo stopped working 20 years ago and they just never fixed it (broken cable) So as far as I am concerned it still has 56K miles.

220k on my 90 K5, engine is very tired though. Next weekend I will be starting at 0 when I drop my new engine in.

249,xxx original motor, with only minor exterior parts replaced when failed, and a new trans at 215,xxx

want your motor to last a long time,,,don't treat it like it's in a Corvette, change fluids regularily...:D

My 87 V20 diesel Suburban has 510,000 miles, my 86 K5 diesel Blazer has 180,000 miles, my 83 K5 diesel Blazer has 220,000 miles, my other 83 K5 diesel Blazer has 121,000 miles, my 82 k10 diesel pickup has 109,000 miles, my 89 GMC diesel Surburban has 80,000 miles, my 1981 Chevette with Isuzu diesel has only 60,000 miles - and my non-GM - 85 Isuzu P'UP 4WD diesel truck has 240,000 miles, my 85 Ford F250 4WD with 6.9 diesel has 145,000 miles, my 1994 Ford F250 4WD with 7.3 turbo-diesel has 221,000 miles, and 1991 Volkswagen Jetta diesel has 140,000 miles.

I don't measure miles on my trail truck. I'ts got parts from so many different vehicles. The engine, 400 & 205 were built by the previous owner for mud racing, and he ran it in a half dozen or so races before he sold it to me, so it's essentially all new stuff.

I measure it in terms of trail rides.

172,xxx original miles . Shortblock and tranny numbers match the truck , case and axles replaced ( I have the original axles on site ) . We did the heads at 88,xxx miles and the cylinder walls had the crosshatch from the honing process still on em .

The valve seals are starting to go after 5 years , but she still runs stronger than a 305 should :waytogo:

odometer says 29,xxx but who knows how many times its rolled over...the p/o had it rebuilt from the heads up about 30,000 ago when it rolled over (which I have papers for) but since the spedo doesn't work because it has never been recalibrated then I'd say I don't really know.
I bet thats true for most of us...unless your spedo works then the odometer won't be correct right? I mean it'll move but your are actually going farther in "one mile" than the odometer thinks one mile is b/c of the larger tires and/or gearing change.
