Other forums I visit have a thread like this, so I figure why not on CK5? For those of you that keep track of miles on your old beaters, and even newer rides, how many miles do they have? Post up make and model and miles to the closest 100 and condition of parts.

I'll start: 1981 K5 odo says 56,400, but the old one said 89,300 when I pulled it out, had 86,000 when I bought it. Can't be sure if it's ~90k or ~190k miles. Engine unknown, tranny and axles original.

1999 GMC Yukon, 153,700 miles all original, I bought it with 113,200 miles in '07, been in the family from mile 0 though.

Let's hear what you have:ears:

I'll play along.

1989 Blazer, 250K on truck but ALL suspension was replaced 9 years ago when I purchased the rig and I built and installed a new engine for it at 240K. The trans is the 3rd one (2nd since i've owned it).

I went alittle farther and put what I remember to be the mileage when I got it and how long I have owned it.

82 k25 6.2diesel - 180,??? to 180,900 Owned for 6 months: po changed rods and main bearings cause it had a knock but turned out to be injectors at 80,000; injector pump been replaced at least once maybe twice but needs it again; down right now for ball joints, wheel bearings, tie rods, and drag link ends

86 k10 Trail rig - 72,000 to 101,350 Owned for 5 years: Has seen alot of mods since I picked it up, nothing really bad has ever been wrong with it. Changed the timing chain, the water pump, and swapped in a 400turbo in place of the still good 700r4 for piece of mind. Its on its 2nd front axle swap, 1st rear axle swap, 3rd front spring swap, and 2nd rear spring swap.

00 1500 DD -75,000 to 110,600 Owned for 3 years: As far as I know all thats been replaced is what Ive fixed and that is a water pump, wheel bearing, and fuel pressure regulator.

Good idea on the miles since you bought it. I'll change my first post a bit.:wink1:

135k on the 91 Burb... at least 250k on the 89.

185k on my daily beater Nissan Sentra.. paid $500, have put about $500 into it and have put 13,000 miles on it in 7 months. Valves are making a little noise now, but I think that's because the PO didn't take care of it and never changed the oil.

176k on my beater 318i that I hope will replace the Sentra once I fix some issues with it.

91 blazer - 173k (bought it with 42k in 1998). Tranny at 130k, routine maintenance.
71 blazer - 33k (bought at 21k several years ago). Should have junked it :D
2003 Silverado 1500- 154500 (bought new). Awesome truck, routine maintenance

72 blazer bought 82000 in 99.now has 93 thousand and has sat neglected for 3 years.i pull it out of the garage every month and run it back and forth in the drivway to keep the fluids moving.changed lift 2 times and did 3/4 ton conversion with inboarded howlin off road shock hangers.50,000 on the 350 crate motor with corvette heads and crane rockers and rv cam.stock 465 trans and 305 transfer case.changed rear output off of anether case as mine was making noise.blew up the rear detroit in my 14bff and had to put the stock spiders back in.that was a bad break.happened on the street a month after i installed it.it was too late for warrantee as i held onto it for a year before i installed it while i was collecting stuff for the 3/4 ton swap.oh well.now rebuilding the body.oh yeah this was a mileage thread haha.went on a lil too much maybe.:haha:

I think it was around 230k when the timing chain lost all it's teeth

88 Burb 79K, had 76K on it last year when I bought it, just maint

86 K30, new addition, 86K on clock 1 prev company owned, cracked frame currently

03 Yukon, just turned 100K, 87K when I bought it, LOF`s and LF hub

My 89 K5 had 290,000 Km when I bought her 8 years ago and now has over 370,000 Km Replaced motor and Transmission once, also swapped out axles.
1999 Chevy Tahoe bought it november of 2008 with 160,000 Km and now have 195,000 Km Only thing swapped in the rear axle for a 14sf.

'88 Suburban, 112K-165K, about five years now. Bone stock when I bought it, looked like fresh intake gaskets and paint though. It has needed tune-up, water pump, fuel pump, alternator, exhaust, and one tranny rebuild. I also have swapped axles and springs.

'91 S-10, 111K-201K, maybe 8 years now. Bought from original owner and was 100% original except for paint, tires, front brakes and maybe an alternator. Since then, has only needed front brakes, tires, temp sensor, heater core, tune-up, exhaust, pcv valve, water pump, thermostat, and sway bar endlinks. Original clutch, ball joints, rear brakes, hoses, etc still in use.

I have no idea of actual mileage of the Blazer and crew cab, but both have had engine swaps. I'll spare everyone the details of my cars.

'89 Suburban has 270k miles on body and frame, motor & trans have about 2200 miles. (completely rebuilt and upgraded)

'94 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton p/u with a 4.3ltr V-6 has about 260k miles, never been torn apart, only fluid changes, regular services, and one intake manifold gasket replacement. One rebuilt trans.

88 retired border patrol from arizona.....had 3700 miles on it when i bought it almost 6 years ago, now its at 10k..........not sure whether its been flipped or not? but it is rust free still being here in new hampshire?

The 90 Blazer I bought in December has 420,000 km (260,800 miles)on it. Original motor and trans as far as I can tell. If either has been rebuilt it was long enough ago that there are no visual clues left. Engine is completely dry, tranny doesn't leak and works pretty good now that the TV cable is correctly set.

At operating temp it still makes 25-30 psi of oil pressure at idle...so I can only assume bearings are decent still.

The rear end does have a slight howl to it, but I also have a bad U-joint at the rear so that may be the source of that vibe/noise. I'll know when I replace it and drive it again soon.

1990 GMC Burb: ~155k when we bought it in Dec 2003, I'm guessing about 220-250k now. Odo stopped at 189k, fours years ago. As far as I can tell it si the original engine, dont know about rebuilds, but I've never done anything, I barely change the oil in this one. Third tranny since I've owned it, had 2 700's then went to a 465 when the last 700 died.

1988 Chevy Burb: 83k miles when we bought it in Jan 2006, roughly 130k now, odo stopped at ~105k three two ago. Replaced the engine at 87k when the last one developed a bad case of the runs. Dump oil in the top, watch it run out the bottom. Second trans, replaced the 700 for a 465. Doesnt get driven much except road trips, so mostly highway miles.

2000 Navigator: 155k when we bought it this past Jan. Only a few thousand more since then. My wife's new DD.

84 k30 has 89k on it and i just put a new th400/205 in it at 88,500. some front lift springs, but otherwise stock. oh, bought it with 87 on it :D

85 k5 has 171k on it, bought it at 130k or so five years ago. since then, everything has changed except the 350 long block, frame, and body.

I bought an 85 new with a 305...got to 155K on that, it still ran good, was just anemic for power, and decided to go with a 350 (shortblock had 110,000 on it when rebuilt). I ran the truck up to about 258,000 and the 700 give it up at that point. Rebuilt that, and the 350 shortblock (bores and crank were still stock size, but got new rings and bearings on the rebuild) got a set of Vortec heads added at the 265,000 mark, and I sold the truck with 273,000 on it.

My present DD is a 99-2500 with about 175500 on the clock. I just changed all the running gear fluids. Engine oil looked dark brown but not black, not sure when the oil was last changed, the 4L80E trans was dark red/ light brown, pulled the pan, and it looked clean, like that had been done before. Changed both diff's and the t/c also. Rear 14BSF looked really good inside even though it does have da-bomb in it....

The 75' k-5 had 280,000. Aside the usual starter, water pump, altinator and carb re-build, the motor was untouched since 1975.
But, it was time to retire the old girl and replace with an LS.
