How many original miles do you have on your 350?

I have some where between 120-140K miles all original. I'm wondering if I should get the engine rebuilt at this point. Can the 350 hit 200K miles all original? I don't plan on putting many miles on the K5 since gas costs so much. The more I get into this the more $ it costs to keep these old rigs running.

my 95 tbi 350 had 270,000 on the clock befor the oil pump cloged goin down the interstate. all original motor no rebuild just good gm enignes. ran strong right up until the night it bent a rod and ate the bearings. could smoke my budies 96 351 f250 all day long and take abuse in the mud lol.

Currently have two l31s at 174k and 185k, all original miles. Neither have ever burned a drop of oil. Have dealt with many that had over 200k and ran excellent.
Ends up being a pretty reliable design when it's been compounded for the last half a century :)

My '91 TBI 350 has 153k all original except for a new intake manifold gasket... Doesn't use any oil or coolant. I'm the second owner and have all the service records from the original owner. He always went to the dealer for service.

My 97 Burb 350 went at 230k. Thats where I bought it.

It had leaky oil lines and the owner let their kids drive it and they never checked the oil. It still ran, just had slight knock

Those tbi motors dont count, ya cheaters! :flipoff11:

Dads 73 had 225k on the clock, including losing the timing chain at 180k (he always meant to change it at 100k he says haha), 3 sets of points, float in the carb, 3 water pumps (one was bad from day 1). Thats about all he put into that truck with a rare oil change and a set of brakes. Finally dropped a valve. Still runs though just it needs the head pulled off and its too rusty to save.

k5's 350 is at 275k-280k. the speedo stopped working at 269k. that was about 5 years ago. it has a bit of rod knock since i overheated it so bad that it stopped running. it hasnt made more than 30psi of oil ressure, even when cold, for about 8 years.

v30 350 is at 157k needs valve stem seals. doesnt leak a drop. uses about 1/2 qt of oil in 3000 miles

bought my 89 burb with 206k on the clock. It was smoking pretty bad when I got it...kept people off my tail in traffic :waytogo: It died shortly thereafter. The pass-side rear cyclinder (#8??) was barely working, plug would be coated black after just a week of putting a new plug in. Motor seized one day going down the highway, sold the block before I could take it apart and investigate.

However I have my doubts on the maintenance of the PO since it looks like he must've spent all his money on stereo equipment as there was 60lbs worth of heavy stereo wiring running all over the truck, and high-end amps tucked under the dash etc. My experience has been that the highschoolers who spend thousands on fancy wheels and stereos are rarely mature enough to follow good maintenance practices.

my 87, yes TBI, had 144K when #1 rod let go.......but this only happened because my wife didn't change the oil when she said she did and when I reminded her that it was time to do so again she said she forgot to the last time! :eek1: So it had around 6000 miles on its last oil change!

I put in a 91, yes TBI, with 80K that has never had anything but synthetic oil in it, no leaks, and a factory oil cooler on it. I bet we'll get over 200K on this one.........:pimp:

I have 265K on my TBI 350 right now. The last oil change was 3500 miles ago so it's due...but it hasn't used a drop in that time. Power is decent, and the lowest oil pressure I've seen is 25 psi.

95 chevy suburban 350 tbi with 280k starting to slow down a bit but pretty good power still.

My father had a 95 2500 that had 328k on the 350 when he sold it. Still ran like a champ, still had most of the original accessories on it, I think it went through 2 alt' s IIRC. Not that it's the same at all, but the 03 2500 (6.0 gasser) he replaced it with is nearing that same mileage, 326k last week, still running great as well :dunno: :D

My original '77 350 had ~190K on it when i pulled it and built the 383. Up to that point, it needed one (each) PS pump, alternator, water pump, fuel pump. Plus a cap and rotor a few times with plugs and plug wires, a couple carb rebuilds. Valve covers and oil pan had never been off, it leaked a little but took less than a quart per oil change after 25 years. If you expect more than that...
