How many quarts of oil for my 350?

My Tree fifty is a Pontiac....does that matter? :haha:

My 22re Holds more oil then my SBC did in my K5 LOL.

How have you been friend? What is new with you?

I may well find my silly butt on your end of the world one day and come visit. Trying to get my chit together and go visit Doug in CO this year. Do some camping in Canyonland, monument valley, stuff like that. Wife has an issue with 10k passes so going to do most of that solo. May come back to some of the lower stuff with the Airstream at a later time.

Building a little long haul expedition traveler out of a 86 4Runner. I can afford to feed it at 21mpg. Won't be no rock crawler but will go where I want...mostly forest service roads. Still have the IFS on it for better road manners.

I've been good, pretty busy with work and stuff. Still doing the never ending K5 build...recently added a NV4500, NWF doubler, 6" Alcan springs, Bilstein 5150's, 1410's everywhere. Working the bugs out of it right now. Should also see 20+ mpg on the highway now with the overdrive and 6.2. :D

You should aim for Moab in October (Blazer Bash). That'd give you a chance to hook up with Doug as well as a ton of the other old timers here...plus do some wheeling. I plan on making BB 07 too, should prolly have all the bugs worked out of my junk by then too.

How is the toaster coming along? Wife and kids good?

You should email me your ph number or something. I have free long distance throughout North america :waytogo:

Wife and kids doing good. Youngest already in Kindergarten!

The Airstream is in holding pattern right now... part cash part cold.

My next step is painting the interior so till we ge back up to the 60's as lows I'm not messing with it. Once painted its wood work and I need the Poncho out of the garage so I can get the saws set up and areas to stain and varnish. That puts the Poncho as next priority to clear work space for the other projects.

You don't know how close I am to selling that pristine 88 R20 454 burb for a 3/4 6.2 4x4 Burb with barn doors to get some of that MPG you are getting...I might one up and 12v Cummins it.

Honestly with what I want to do with the cross country overall it might be a better choice then the 4Runner. Keep the lift around 4 inches, some 35's and it could handle the Airstream. Then find a bombed out Westy and put the pop top on it and make the galley slide out the back. Ultimate 2 person back woods camper.

Blazer bash would be fun and that's not bad timing. Might shoot for that. Doug and I have been hanging on a different forum a little lately and how we got back in touch. Somebody saw him in the Chalet and I pointed them back at the Chalet stuff drmu and he had going. He ended up joining the forum. Haven't talked to him in a few weeks. I imagine he is back in CO right now with the holidays but has been working a project up in Canada is what he was telling me.

the 4.10's and 33's are bringing the suck on the 4runner. I picked up a 4.88 front end for it last night. That will get it back to stock working gearing. Now I just need to order the 4.88's for the TRD E-locker 3rd I have sitting in a bucket in the garage and I am good to go. Might float that on the card just to get it done. Hate to fry the brand new clutch I just put in it when I rebuilt the engine over the summer. That would make it ready to go. Eventually a 2 inch body lift and 2 inch drive train so I can flat belly it but its not critical just future stuff.

Funny thing is bone stock with 33's it has better ground clearance then a stock Rubi unlimited. I made two friends feel the fool last weekend with it. One with the Rubi and one with a TJ with ARB's and 33x9.5 swapers. Both had to hit the lockers to make this little rut. I walked it open, IFS, at street pressure with the sway bar still on. They were both shaking their head over it. They thought for sure they were going to get to pull me yet. :haha:

That silly little truck does so much better then I ever thought it would with the IFS. Pound on it till it breaks that decide if I will sling this solid front I have stashed under it.

I'll drop you a number here in a little bit.

Sorry Dorian, yours was just the last reply. My response was in general, not aimed at you in particular.

For those that don't know, Eric (Grim Reaper) used to be a moderator here and a tech guru with several tech articles under his belt...

So we've been had! (LOL). I should have put two and two together after seeing his how-to on heater core replacement.

Dang, kindergarten already!! They grow up way too fast dude...scary. I'll check my email...

Merry Christmas to you too, Grim. FWIW, if you run a high capacity filter and a deep oil pan, you can fit over 6 quarts in a SBC. Yes, it's true........:deal:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nice to see you around again. It sounds like everything is going well for you and yours. Drop in again sometime soon, okay?
