How many SRW crew cab K30/K3500s were made from '73-91?

I'd really like to sell my Sub and pick one of these up. They're damn hard to find. Does anyone have a breakdown of how many were made year by year?

Any SRW crew cab K30/K3500 would have the 205/D60 combo, right? Were most of them stripped down work trucks? I'd like one with a 465, would all of these be stripped down work strucks or could I find one with the bench seats and decent interior?

Here's one. Paint it flat black it's good to go.

They are out there, I parted out 2 of them. AFAIK they are all 205s, and only the early years (73-76-ish) had the 44 up front. I'm sorta looking for one, but not hard, don't need another friggin vehicle....

K30 with the dana60 front didn't start til '77.

Sixpacks are uncommon, at least up here (north of you).

The crewcabs are a bit weird as they all have the narrow/tall/thick frame of the 1-ton, even if badged as 3/4's. (Though a K20 would still have the D44 or 10b.)

As mentioned, the K30's didn't start right off; I know 'cuz to get a pre-smog truck I had to get 2WD. (Which is fine for my towrig, and keeps me from stealing the D60 for my Blazer =))

Anyway, just keep your eye open. I bought mine, sheesh, four, five years ago now? Paid about two grand for it; 2WD, a tired bigblock, but rust-free (really!) There were other, newer examples on Craigslist, but they were listing for upwards of six or eight grand. (IIRC, for the two months or so I was looking, there were maybe half a dozen listed in the greater SF Bay area. I ended up driving an hour to get mine.)

And in this economy, with gas prices as they are (especially here in CA, and particularly for gas-hungry vehicles) it's a buyer's market. You can afford to be picky, and you can afford to seriously lowball people :deal:

That's what I'm thinking. Unfortunately, I have to sell my Sub first. That may be a tall order, since it gets single digit MPG around town. Seems like as soon as I bought it last October, gas shot up almost $1/gallon overnight.

Don't remind me. I sold my CUCV early this year, took me like two weeks on CL, was a breeze. Month or two later I finally decided to sell my 300ZX ... took me like four months, ate my shirt on it.

And you're gonna lose your shirt on that Burb. Might well be worth it to get a sixpack, swap drivetrain, and sell the Burb closer to stock.

I bought mine for 2k, '82 4wd turbo 400/205 and 60/14 combo with a strong GM Goodwrench 454 with roughly 90K on the motor itself. Whole truck probably has 190k miles on it. It meant to be a tow rig for 4 hours a month but I've been driving it a bit more than I really needed to. Awesome truck, man!

My dad had an '86 2wd dually and that thing was snappy. I'm mad at him for not giving it to me. But my truck made all that bitterness disappear quick. I'm gonna drive it up to Payson on Labor day and show up at his house just to get him bitchin' about gas mileage. :D

I don't think I've paid enough attention to notice them before I bought my truck. But since then, I'm starting to notice several on the road. They're still out there though.

I have an 89' 454, th400, np205, D60/14FF SRW, Long bed 4x4. Paid 4K for it with a spun rod bearing. Its super clean. The block is a high nickle content block. It had No ridge ring in the block at all. The guy who did the machine work on the motor when I rebuilt it said it was a very good 454 block. Also said the type of rods were good factory rods. I had to replace one rod and the crank but the block was fine.

Luckily I bought it as is for $5500 last October. Hell, the tires alone are $1600. :eek1:

I'll probably start it out around $5000, then prepare to be lowballed. It's super clean, and has a newer 350 crate motor with a mild cam. It runs great, and I know how much the PO put into it. I became fascinated with it, but really a crew cab would be all that much better for me. It's just a matter of finding one.
