5 mostly just wore them out.

T150 3 speed in my CJ5 rebuilt it, eventually replaced with a SM465.

TH400 in my Crew cab. Had it rebuilt.

Whatever automatic was in a '05 F250 6.0L , rebuilt at 200k drove another 100k traded it in.

5 spd in a '94 Toyota rebuilt last year at 200k, 2 days after I got it back found out the V6 was shot been sitting.

5 spd in a '90 1500 ended up selling the truck off to a friend he had it rebuilt.

An SM465 is the only trans I have ever had go bad on me while out on the road. The trans was on it's way out when I bought the truck anyway. I put it in 3rd gear, and it would not come out. I limped it all the way home in 3rd gear slipping the clutch all the way, and not being able to go faster than 45 MPH without revving the engine to the moon.

Turned a good working 700r into a full manual shift with a trans brake once.

Went to leave a stop light and it was like it was in neutral. Drove it home shifting it manually. By the time I got home(a few miles) there wasn’t much left and than she stuck in park.

Had a well abused 350c die in my hands as well. Changed oil and filter in it. Made it half a mile, didn’t have 3rd gear any more. After another half mile I only had 1st and reverse. Did a 5 mile round trip. Than lost reverse as I backed it into the garage.

Forget the plug?

3 muncies, broken internal parts and a tailshaft housing. all behind <300 hp small blocks.
1 T400 because the radiator cooler broke allowing antifreeze to mix.
1 700r4, zinged one, not sure what the issue was, R&R’d with a comparable upgraded unit, was never quite the same.
1 4L60E while in the hills of Custer State Park, broken sunshell.
3 T400’s in the Iron Maiden, one broken case from not having mounted correctly, one a cheap TCI convertor disintegrated, and a pump gear failure.

2 th350’s in my Nova. The second one was a place holder while I rebuilt the first. Split the cast ring in the intermediate clutch drum racing some goon from a light in Pueblo. Went to power glide mode in an instant. First and third only.

Most recently the 4500.

4L60e in mom’s suburban trying to do a power brake. The 47re in my hopped up diesel trying to do a burnout. The 6l80e in my tuned up Silverado because I let the fluid go 40k miles instead of 20k miles and a heavy right foot.

Adding to my total

Babaganuked a 4T65E in my 04 Impala SS

Only had 2nd, 3rd, and reverse

Sold it for more than I paid for it. That was a cool car.

I like how I'm the center of this thread.

So far I can't add to my list, the daily has 293K on the original trans and the fluid hasn't been changed for at least 140k

after watching all my friends rebuilding 700r4 in my highschool years, and then watching a couple "built" and "high-performance" transmissions come apart in Toyotas and gm trucks with 35 inch tires and healthy engines... 700r in a work truck lit off and burned the truck to the ground one day (when someone else was driving it) sort of soured my taste for those particular vehicles. matter of fact I have purchased a lot of my vehicles based off of the trans that was in them...

drove a 3/4 ton suburban with a light foot for a long time - th400 never skipped a beat

drove an original all stock 1962 scout for a few years... my foot learned some finesse. drove the scout like it was made of toothpicks and glass... because it basically was. it went EVERYWHERE

fj55 landcruiser. no power from that motor and only ran 31 inch tires, so no problems there!

bought a 1995 z28 in non running condition without ever having laid my own eyes on it - because T56.
flogged that car. Hella fun giant go-cart - donuts for daaaays son!

Always loved the K5s but had zero interest in a 700r. then along came my 1988 with the 465. boom. 3 engines later and still running that 465.

I'm not sure what the point of this post is - y'all trannies suck?! :haha:

I would like to take a moment to personally thank all of you for the continued patronage and support of the transmission repair industry.
There are 3 of your converters around my house now. One is yet to get put into service, but the other 2 work great!
:saweet:

Same, my T400 convertor works great behing the BBC in the Maiden. The built unit for the Cummins is still in the box, awaiting my increase in ambition and urgency to get back to work on that project. Thanks again @Greg Ducato !

I have never ruined a transmission, and I have owned 50 or more vehicles going back to 1980. The closest I have come is buying a car with a ruined transmission, replacing it and never having another issue with it. I'm almost ashamed of myself...
