how much ATF needed?

how much ATF do i need to change fluid in transmission and transfer case on '85 K10? planning to do pump out the valve body, drop the pan and change the filter. unless there is a way to drain the torque converter.

to the best of my knowledge is 700r4/np208.

If your just draining the pan the trans will probably take about 4 quarts. If it was after a rebuild... My th400 took about 8. Transfercase should be about 4 too so hell just by a case for the heck of it

700r4 only takes 4 quarts when draining the valve body and dropping the pan?

Look at tciauto.com under Technical Information key, then atf fluid capacities. Shows 6 quarts for the 700r4 stock pan capacity. My 208 transfer case has small leaks in it and i just top it off at the fill plug till it comes out.
