How much did your frame off restoration cost?

Taking everything into consideration yall are telling me. I do have a feeling that yall think I’m going all out in this. Really its more of a freshening up on the truck to where I’m just stripping it down and sanding and welding where I need to on axles, frame, motor, etc. Guess I shouldn’t have used the term “frame off”. Besides the addition of a 14 bolt (which is not set in stone) the only new parts going on the truck would be some interior as I have already rebuilt or replaced everything while it has been my DD in the last year and a half.

I'm still pretty firm on my expectations of cost. It ain't cheap.

Just keep saying "A brand new truck is 40 grand...A brand new truck is 40 grand"...
After awhile ,whatever you spend building your truck the way YOU want it,will feel worth it...and if you can provide all the labor,do most of the work, all the parts it'll require would seem cheap in comparison to having some shop do the restoration..

Wow! 80K and I thought a 20K quote was alot for rust and paint work. I'm doing the rust repair myself which is taking alot of time. I'm hoping to find someone to paint it under 5k.

he!!, good primer/base/clear paint to do a whole rig can run 3 to 5 g's..

I just gave a guy a price on a bunch of stuff he wants done on a 78 el Camino. Just basic stuff to primer. Cage and interior. Told him $12k to $15k. He wanted to know he could bring it over. ?????????

I'm gonna say ~ $20,000 and about 2400 hours

Exactly my point..it wont be what you really want, expensive, not only to buy,but insure too,and anyone can have a "brand new truck"..
A restoration preserves a part of history too,its not just for looks..

You can do a pretty good restoration for 40K if you do much of the labor yourself..half the cost goes to making it pretty, paint, and body work has gone way up in recent years..if your only concerned about the mechanical condition and can live with a less than perfect paint job,you can save quite a bit..

Brody - Is that in paint and parts?

I am counting chemicals and tools...yeah...pretty much everything I can remember...I paid $4300 for the Blazer and $1300 for delivery...so roughly $15,000 for the rest. It's possible I spent a small fortune on sandpaper and stuff that I am not thinking about.
