How much fluid in a TH400 and converter?

Tranny is 2WD with a factory pan that's maybe 3" deep, as opposed to the ~2" deep aftermarket one on the old tranny.

Messr Chilton says 7.5 qts to refill, but the torque converter is new, so it's empty. Any idea on what the TC takes to fill?

I always put 2 quarts in the torque converter on a new install before I bolt it up then pour in ATF until it reads full.
