I want to paint my beater K5 in a flat desert sand color. I don't have any hard top, doors or tailgate on it. How many cans do you think I will need. Also, I am not going to fix any bodydamage that I have, I just want to scuff the paint and wipe it down with thinner and then spray it. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to do this easiest, the cheapest and fastest way. Also, what is a good brand spary paint?

Not many brands in such a color; Wal-Mart sells the Krylon.

My crewcab took ~20 cans, and my K5, like yours but with half doors, took ~10, as I recall.

Thanks, I will get 10, I am sure I will need some for touch up

I bought 11 cans of store brand (OSH) satin black to do my Blazer with doors.
I had 1 or 2 cans left. Of course I was covering grey primer. If you are painting a dark wehicle with a light color you'll probly need more. I hit my Blazer with a Orbital sander, then sprayed the next day. Went to work after the weekend with a different color truck!! :wink1:

i did my k5, with doors and top with 8 cans of flat black.
