I Found A 1987 to 88 Silverado 4 door 1 ton dually with a blown motor(which is a 454) its an automatic turbo400 and body is in not bad shape. I left the person my phone number to have person call me to see if person is selling and i know about the truck and seen it around town. It's been sitting in exact spot since last year.

I wonder how much to give him if he is selling

$1300 to $1400 would be top dollar for a 2-wheel drive with a blown engine. Depends on how motivated they are to sell it. If it has been sitting for a long time, then they are not too desperate. Try offering about $700, and see what they say.

It has a blown 454 and it's two wheel drive

I lived in New Orleans back in the early to late 70's. There was no such thing back then as vehicle inspection or smog checks. You just bought it and drove it. America had more freedom back then.

Speaking of that you can still not get smog checks here in New Orleans . Just brake inspections but the NOPD don't look at brake tags often

It really depends on what your plans are. If you just want to pick it up, toss a used motor in it and sell it then the bottom line is important. I you love the truck and plan on using it for years to come then the price limit is different. An extra $500 now for a truly clean truck will save you money later. Where I live a 2wd with a blown motor Isn't worth hardly anything. Although a crew cab is harder to find I wouldn't exactly call it rare. They are available in every condition at every price point. You might not find one down the street but if you look around a bit they are plentiful still. Be honest about your plans for it and the real cost of getting to that point, then you will know how much to pay.

I want it to keep and haul stuff and heavy stuff when need. I also want to sell the suburban I have, which is a 1990 GMC 4x4 half to with a TBI 350, extra stuff and get the dually 4 door since the dually is like a suburban but a pick dually that is plus and afull ton.

I was going to convert the suburban to a dually but ive been thinking it's best to sell the suburban and get a four door dually.

I have a buddy with a suburban and he also wants to sell it in favor of a crew cab. The bed more useful than the suburban for his needs. Suburban is great if you need third row seating, not so much for hauling stuff.

Update: I talked to the guy about the dually and he said it the engine is a 527. Not 454. And he said it has a blown head gasket. I offered him 700, and then 1000. Plus I said to him about the cost of a new engine and whole paint job on the whole vehicle. And told him that he either can let me take the vehicle off his hands or let it sit and rot. He claimed afterwards he's "still paying insurance on it and is due next month" in a whining like voice(the vehicle is near downtown and it's parked facing outward towards the street while the rear is facing right up to the fence with the license plate on so the police won't see it). Afterwards i said "ok" and left the conversation at that.

Plus he thought the vehicle is rare. And I have his number saved too

The guy that owns that truck is one of those "do nothing dreamer" types that will never do anything with that truck. With that truck located were it is, I am surprised it is still in one piece. Is that truck located next to the Desire or Ward 5 Projects (if those Projects even still exist)?

I know I'd be upset if someone did this to me(in truth I'm shocked no one did the 4 years we lived in town) I would imagine New Orleans has an immobile vehicle ordinance. Wait a couple weeks and lodge a complaint posing as a neighbor.

Might motivate him or backfire completely

Update: The Truck is located off of Elysian Fields and Claiborne past a block or two from Autozone. Headed towards the 9th Ward on Claiborne

The guy called me back this morning and told me of a guy that he knows that is selling a b6 with a 454 Carb. We met in person and went and looked at it. its not in bad shap besides a medium damage on tailgate. The owner couldnt start it which he said he did operate the vehicle moving cars some in the lot where he works at as a tow truck driver. We tried a jump box but no electric, jump box might have been not charged full.

So he asked for between 1500 to 2000 minimum. Which i agreed 1500 and i trust it does start especially since by the look of the two batteries installed the battaries are new like condition even the the vehicle has been sitting for a while.

Plus i hope i sell this suburban soon for this thing
