how much would you pay for this 6.0?

I'm no expert but, i have looked around for those engines before and that seems reasonable especially if it is as complete and low mileage.
I've seen a few online in my area for about $15-2200 with +/- acc and miles

Go buy it NOW for $1300. Thats an excellent price with the harness, fuse box, and accessories! Seriously thats a deal...

cool, thanks guys. I'm supposed to look at it tomorrow. If it looks good I'll probably grab it.

Awesome deal! Go tonight dude! Make sure you get the throttle pedal with it BTW
already asked about the pedal... he doesn't have it. :( it is mechanical though, not fly-by-wire so might not be as big an issue...

So, I lost out on the deal above, but I've got a line on another one. This one for $800. Problem is, this one has 260k miles on it. :( The engine is still in the truck now and runs so I can go listen to it and the guy is willing to give me everything I wanna take to make the swap work (accessories, pedal, wiring, etc.. even the radiator if I want it).

Question: Would you consider buying a 6.0 with that many miles on it and if so would you do anything to freshen it up before putting it in?

on your 2nd yes, like what? Just trying to get a handle on how much money I'm looking at spending on it.

260k? No thanks. All that swap effort to have a motor with one foot in the grave?

:doah:

I would do a full rebuild to be honest. I got 50 bucks that says that motor could go another100k miles as it is. But you would be on borrowed time the whole time.

I'd keep looking. These engines run a long time, but that's more mileage than I would ever consider buying one at

I'm kinda looking at it like this. I was willing to pay $1300 for one with a lot fewer miles on it, so if I were to put $500 into this one would I be ahead or behind?

Can I even do anything worthwhile for $500?

It all depends on what the engine looks like inside and how thorough of a rebuild you want to do. If you're lucky, the cylinder walls are in good shape and you might be able to get by with a re-ring, hone, and some fresh bearings in the bottom end. With that many miles, though it is probably well worn and if you're going to tear it apart you might as well do a full rebuild and never have to worry about it again. I'd shop around for a lower-mileage example. There are plenty of these engines around with 100K or less.

IMO having to do a complete rebuild in the process of doing the swap, defeats much of the purpose of doing the swap to begin with. I would hold out for lower mileage.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way too.
