how can LMC ship me a rad support, grille & everything i need to swap my 85 k10 to 91 side by side headlights for $125, but UPS wants $5-600 to ship the same stuff? :eek1:am i missing something? anybody know what my best bet would be to ship a used rad support. i could drive & pick it up myself cheaper than the quotes i've seen on that size package.

LMC undoubtedly has a bulk contract with their shipper that gets then a big price break, but even so, that seems excessive.

Any idea why it is so high? Size, weight, hazardous?

You might try one of those shipping places. I get a discount on shipping UPS since I have a mailbox at one of their UPS stores.

But there are other shipping places that can pick and choose what carrier they use and can sometime get you a better deal.

Heck, for those prices, you might be better off going with a freight line.

i'm not sure why its so high. i used their faq & it told me it would be a ''200 class package'' b/c of oversize:dunno: i plan to try other shippers as i really want that grill

go to your local paint and body supply store for automotive repair. than can get all that stuff also and usaly next day delivery and no shipping charges.

I have shipped large items through Fed Ex Ground before. Was substantially cheaper than UPS. You may want to give them a shot.

Do you need to ship something? Or are you relying on a seller being able to ship something to you?

If the latter, the seller needs to get out and do some legwork. Actually bring the box of items to a shipping outlet (UPS Store, Fed Ex dist center, local freight company) and get a real quote from a human being. On your end, you may need to be able to pick up the item at your local dist center, sometimes freight companies will do that instead of charge you more to deliver to your door.

Residential drop off can drive the cost up too. If you can have it shipped somewhere with a loading dock it's usually cheaper. It sounds like the rad support is too big for UPS, so try FedEx ground and maybe Yellow (or whatever their new name is). If the seller and buyer can both drive to their local terminals it can bring the cost way down.

Another vote for fedex. For example whenever I ship tires I use fedex and split them into two packages. Its generally 30-50% cheaper than ups.

Fedex also is much easier to get a discount with if you have an account.

I have also shipped large packages. Custom made boxes for front buckets out of a 72- A lot cheaper through fedex. The oversize raises the price a lot
