how to adjust carb?

how do I adjust my carb. It's an edelbrock 600cfm. has electric choke
i think its a 1400 ?

what is the proper way to adjust the air/fuel screws

the two adjustment screws on the front bottom is the air/fuel mixture for idle, need to change jets if you need to change the mixture for other than idle. Check this FAQ page

Something like 2-1/4 turns out on the screws come to mind but i could be mistaken. Lots of info on them here. My guess is you have a 1406 edelbrock.

The shade tree way to tune a carb is to set idle, dial mixture screws all the way in one at a time. Listen for the motor rpm to change, then back out half a turn. Then readjust idle and adjust mixture again.

I adjusted them at 4 1/2 turns.
seems to be idling alot better than before!.

oh, and I plugged my manifold vacuum leak too...

Yeah a vac gauge is the most accurate way to do it.
