i tried searching but "CV" is too short of a term.

how do i go about changing the ujoints in the cv part of the front driveshaft? and the rear cv for that matter (old caddy type)? ive got to replace the middle joint on the front shaft but i need to do both of them anyways. is there a writeup or a trick to getting these out easily? also its got those little plastic things stickin out of the h-yoke. thanks alot guys!

I haven't done this on a truck yet, but for my Pontiac it was easier to simply buy a new (reman) half-shaft and replace it. From what I learned there, it's a royal PITA to re-build and re-pack the assembly yourself. The price for a complete half shaft wasn't too bad, either. You also get new boots that way.

It is a pain! Have a buddy to help you. Take it apart and then reassemble it. The last one is the worst. Be sure to put the housings together before you install the first joint. Oops, I did that once.
