Hey buddy i wheel with has a 89 k5 4" lift running 35" BFG mudders. He bought it this way and shortly after found his silde yoke in transmation was broke seems the ears of the yoke were weld once before. so money not being a big option we went to local junk yard to find another one in stead he bought a complete drive shaft for $35 bucks:D. replaced bough u-joints and put it in the truck worked great.BUT...:doah: we went wheeling twice and now the back u-joint went out so replaced it but a ear was half broke. hes drivin it road only. U-joints bought from autozone 10 or 12 bucks a peice. Bad choice u-joints? are bad drive shaft? Could pinion angles be off because of lift?

bad part is i was running a k5 on 32" with 305 4 speed and rev. 5000 and dumping the clutch trying a lot harder that day. mine is fine altough i just swap the motor for a 350 0.40 over. :haha:

they might be too extreme of an angle to keep the u joints happy. get a degree finder at napa or some parts store. u want it from 3*-5*

A difference in angle of 1.5 degrees is a recipe for a short U joint life and vibes. Also Ive never had good luck with anything less than Spicer joints or better. Some of them are really weak. Check out Tom Woods website for lots of tech info on D/S`es.
