How to find out what tranny I have

The identification tags on both the driver's door jamb, and the glove compartment have been removed by one of the prior owners. Where can I look to find out what tranny I have. What tranny do I want to have?

BTW -- I have an 82 K5 Blazer (Silverado) 1/2 ton; 350 5.7L; I think I have the NP205 t-case.

3 speed or 4 speed?
if is it's an 3 speed it's an th350 and if it's an 4 speed it's an 700r4

A square tranny oil pan also indentifies a TH350.

It's a four speed auto tranny w/Overdrive. Does this change it from being a 700r4?

As for the t-case, I have to get under to take a look at the t-case, but the selector (in descending order) is 2Hi, 4Hi, Neutral, 4Lo.

its a th700 and a np 208 tcase.

one shaped like illinois (yeh thats what i think it is) is a th400, a square is 700r4, and a square w/ a corner cut off is a th350.

you don't have a np205, you have a np208. Most half tons came with np205, until someone before you swapped it in.
But you have a 208 from what you described.

Actually, I have heard people refer to the 400 pan as resembling Texas.

From 81 and on 208's where standard...so someone didnt swap it in...its how it came from the factory /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

Checked the factory specs link for 82s, and I have the optional TH700-R4 tranny, and the NP208 t-case (2.61:1 low range), which was standard. Thanks
