its a m1009. know how you pull the lver back to you and the highs come on. well, mine is all lose and does not work. do i need to pull it all apart or what? never did anything like this before. thanks for the help

Need to know if it's the pivot mechanism up top, or if it's the switch at the base of the column.

You can adjust the switch at the base of the column (move it towards the steering wheel) if the problem is switch related. Follow the rod that moves when you move the lever.

Metal rod runs down the drivers side of the column, but on an assembled column, you have to look down under the dash sheetmetal to see them. Both the ignition and headlight switches are run off of metal rods that go down to the base of the column.

Gotta get another one I guess, and I have a feeling you can't easily put one in there without disassembling the column.

My M1009 had the column missing when I got it.When I put the column in that rod fell out,but I was able to get it back in without tearing it down.
