This is the problem referenced in my lounge post:

Trying to help my cousin and her bf out. Guy has a 2004 Canyon with a CD stuck in the stock OEM GM CD player. Anyone know how to make it release the CD?

I had an older Alpine that would do this every once in a while and I discovered that if you stuck a knife in the slot and fished around you could hit this little lever dohickey and that would release the CD so that it would at least pop up enough I could get it with a pair of pliers. I've talked someone else through this with another brand of CD player so I was wondering if this was a common sort of "fix"?
I explained this method to her and told her to let me know what they found.

You could try pulling the fuse for the radio, wait about 2 minutes, then plug it back in. That will erase the memory on it. It might eject it then.

I've had to do this twice on my 05 avalanche. Had the head unit replaced on the third time.

Hope this helps.

maybe...

a ball peen hammer:haha::haha::haha:

pulling the fuse and reinstalling it may work, the radio may realize it has a cd in it and start trying to read it...hit eject immediatlly after putting the fuse back in....btw will it play the stuck disk or show the little icon on the radio indicating that it has a cd in it, or does it think its empty?

Good question, I'll have to ask that.

Apparently my method didn't work so I did tell them of the fuse method.

try inserting a laminated card like a drivers lic in there while trying to eject sometimes you can just bump the stuck cd a bit and it will come out .. this isnt gm specific but its worked here and there on a few different cars.

I'm 4 hours away from said vehicle.

Just helping out my cousin, her bf, and my uncle.

First charge the air compressor up to about 150psi...

Hit local electronics spot for new unit...... AMAZON.com for missing cd. Better yet, get an iPOD.

If you can see the edge of the cd inside the unit just grab it with a pair of long thin needle nose pliers and try and wiggle it out, you will probably ruin the cd but most of the time you can get them out That way.
If it's a copy of a cd and has a label on it, take the label off, I've seen alot of jammed cd's that had stickers on them.

It's not mine and it's 4 hours away from me so no, I'm not taking the radio apart.

The fuse trick didn't work. I suggested the "grab the edge with a pair of pliers and yank it out" method but I think they're using too fat of a pair of needlenose for that. I think her bf might just end up with that problem.

MP3...ipod...gag...just like water I don't like to pay to listen to the radio. Also just enough older to not be in the generation that likes to walk around lost in their own world with "earbuds" on.

my buddys old truck to get it out you had to stick another cd in there to get it to grab then pull the one you put it out and it would kick the other one out
