hey all, im currently going through the process of lifting my blazer withing the next few weeks and im currently gathering parts for it. all in all i would like to achieve 6-7" of lift. a 4" shackle flip is definately going to be incorporated into this but i would like your opinion on what to do to achieve the rest. currently i am planning on running 4" bds springs on all 4 corners but i want to make sure that this is the best option for me if this is going to be a trail rig and my dd during winter. what other options should i look into? i have minimal experience with leaf sprung suspension and would like to make the best choice before investing my money. thanks for your time and help!

If it's gonna be a DD, I personally would go a bit lower in lift, you'll get a better ride, 8" springs up front are a little harsh! But, 8" springs up front and 4" springs out back with a 4" shackle flip would be a good starting point if you are determined on 8" of lift.

yea i was thinking around 6" would be a bit more realistic, but it doesnt hurt to dream! pretty much im going to be running 35x15x15 tsls that im getting from a friend for $150 and they have 80% tread left(his 305 cant power em enough so hes going back to 33s) so im thinking ill run the 4" flip out back with 2" springs and 4" springs up front with ?? i pretty much know what im gonna do out back to get a matching lift for what i do up front but what are my options up front. is there a 2" shackle for up front that i can use with a 4" spring? pretty much im kinda confused on the suspension up front and thats what i mostly need help with.

Well, when ya run a shackle long enough to give ya a noticeable lift up front, it causes ya problems, 'cause a long shackle points your pinion down and messes with caster angles.

For 6" lift you'd probably be best off running 6" front springs, 4" rear shackle flip and 2" rear springs.

On a blazer I would look at doing 1 to 2 inches more lift in back than in front. Unless you like the saggy butt look.

Especially if you ever plan on putting a cage or heavy bumper on. Also the rear springs being flatter tend to sag more than the front because the fronts are so arched.

I have almost 3 inches of extra lift in back and am about to put a zero rate on to make it level. But then I do have a heaviy bumper, cage, sliders, spare.

im actually doing that soon, i have 6" all springs right now, im doing a shackle flip in the back with a 4" spring and zero rate (9") and in the front a longer shackle on my 6" springs and a zerorate (8.5")...dont worry guys, i wont let the pinion angle get stupid!

so if i run my 4" springs all around with a 4" shackle flip out back and a 2" shackle up front i should be about 6" all around?

that will bring the back to 8" and the front to 8"...most extended front shackles only do 1.5" of lift....so 8" in the back at 5.5" in the front, if u put 6" springs in front with a extended shackle you can get 7.5" so...8" in the rear and 7.5" in the front.

well with the weight of a cage and rear bumper wouldnt it make the 8" out back sag a lil? so wouldnt that make it closer to 6-7" of lift?

i would go with

Rear: 2.5 shackle reverse, 4" BDS Springs =6.5"

Front: 4" BDS springs, 2" longer shackles (for 1" of lift), and a zero-rate =6"

IF you have a problem with a saggy rear then add a zero-rate to level it out.. this would give you good flex, good ride, not too tall, and good for DD....

I'm wanting to do the same thing only on a crew cab. My plans are 4" spring with shackle flip and zero rates in the rear and 6" springs with zero rates and 2" shackles up front. I'm wanting to run 37's without cutting the body. I was told I'll have problems with the drive line angles but I don't see it. I think your set up would work fine also. However I'm just learning about all of this and my only knowledge comes from reading. So I'll just keep reading and hopefully you'll answer my questions. Good Luck!

I'm currently running 4" shackle flip, 2" leaf spring and zero rate in the rear, 6" leafs in the front. I'm running 35" tires.
