Can someone explain to me how to hook up each wire to the relay?? I wil be running 4 rock lights total which I want controlled with a switch.
The box that it came in didnt have good instructions on it and I am going nuts. /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

If you buy a relay, they come with a diagram on the package. It's fairly simple to wire up if ya see the diagram on the relay. Basically, you wire your switch to turn on the relay, and the relay then turns on the lights. You can also buy a harness that plugs into the relay with 4 wires stickin off the back of it. Really cleans up the wiring job by elinating the use of those crimp spade connectors on the relay. Just plug the harness onto the relay and connect your wires to the harness. /forums/images/graemlins/pimp1.gif

I hooked up some lights just like your diagram and got feedback through the relay and the indicator light would be on all the time. Kinda goofy. They were quality relays too. I ended up putting the indicator light behind the relay with the lights as well.

on my lights I just have a positive and negative so do I just hook up the positive and then ground the negative??

This is an editted version of a fan relay schematic, but it gives you the layout that should be used for hooking up lights with an LED indicator.

You don't have to add an LED, just something to let you know that the lights are on.
