How to: Hydraulic Assist Install (Complete write up with parts list)

Nice write up :waytogo:. I just finished doing pretty much the exact same thing except for I went with a 2" bore ram. (Just for reference, the "myth" of don't drive 2" rams on the street is bull. I feel totally safe on the road with my 2" ram. It is a little bit slower, but not very noticable at all). Probably the only difference I see with mine and guys like you who went with a 1.5" ram, is my pump, even after the mod like yours, doesn't really seem to have enough pressure and flow until ~900 rpms. I think this is because I have the 2" ram instead of a 1.5" like yours. The 2"ers need a lot more flow and pressure than I think my modded chevy pump can put out at idle. But after 900 rpms it's like butter :D. You are correct though, when I was researching this, there wasn't really anyone who had a detailed, up-to-date write up on this. I didn't even take the time to do it with mine. So, good work :thumb:

Bringing this back from the dead, Thanks Colby for the write-up. I just finished building a box and have some info to add.

The box is from my '75, 4wd box with the smaller input shaft splines.

If you can fit a 12 point 3/4" socket over the splines, this kit will fit.

Ordered a kit from Rockauto, AC Delco professional kit. Came with everything including the pittman shaft bearing.
