how to identify a 4L80E

how do I tell if my tranny is a 4L60E or 4L80E. Ive heard that the 80s were real big but this tranny seems small to me. It was in a 95 3/4 ton 4x4 truck. I figured it was an 80 but after getting under the truck to take it out I realized it was not the original transmission. I did a search and could not find anything. Im sure this has been asked before but I could not find the answer. any help would be appreciated, thanks. Dustin
