I just recieved my Spool from ouversion engineering ( even though im seeling the truck). And I'm looking at it and it looks like the size of the whole differential itself but yet its suppose to be a mini spool?.. Idk about you.. but my open diff housing isnt that big..

Put up a pic so we can see. Make sure you have something beside it for size comparison. Are you sure it is for a 14FF and not a Rockwell?

Is it about this size?

This is my detroit for a 14FF and a mini spool should be the same size. Did they send you a full spool?

Dik

Well the mini spool look bigger than the detroit.

Ill have pictures today or tomorrow.

i will have pics of the carrier soon
the spool is just huge against the carrier (since my carrier is much smaller than the ring gear (and it is a full float 14 bolt)

Trust me if fits. Just open the carrier, remove the side gears & spider assembley. I just installed one this past weekend.

thats all there is to a 14bff detroit?

Yep that is why they are so much cheaper. That is really all there is to a Dana 60 detroit also but since a 60 does not have a 2 piece carrier the detroit comes with its own => cost of manufacture increases and is passed on to the customer.

I am not a small guy so the pic may be decieving. The cross is almost 8" across if that gives any help to imagination.

There was a thread a while back with all kinds of 14FF carrier pics that can help you "see" how it will fit.

Oh and I meant did ouverson send you a rockwell mini spool vice a 14FF mini spool. Not what axle you had. Just looking at your pics I am confident it is almost identical in size to a detroit and will fit.

I still have not been able to get those pictures yet.. But the paper work says 14BFF MINI SPOOL.. so it must be right..hmmm I have to dig into it soon to find out for myself...

I once had a Detroit Locker to fit a 2.5 ton Rockwell axle that I got off eBay for cheap. It was brand spanking new and almost comparable in size to a volleyball. I sold it on eBay for like 3 times what I paid for it.

And yes, it was HUGE! I've had several DL's for a 14FF and this 2.5 ton Rocky DL put it to shame.
