Ive been searching these forums for a few weeks now but this is my first post. I picked up a 1985 K5 with 8 inches of lift on 38's and some other cool options.
This write up is using a 3rd row seat from a 90 Burb that is fully removable. It is being put into a 85 k5 with the fold and tumble rear seat.
Of course like anything else, it needed some things. First on the list. A back seat for the kid. Mine didn't come with one. So I hit the local pull and pay here in colorado springs. I could only find one k5 back seat and it was in very bad condition. But low and behold, lots of suburbans with the 3rd row.
So here is my write up on the install. I couldn't find any exact details on this forum or a write up for that matter so I did one myself. I hope it helps some people and I apoligize if its already been done.
First. I had to note what had to be done. So I compared the brackets and found that the rear clip part is exactly the same. The front was the only problem. Upon inspection. I found that the suburban seat had the pivot mount for the brackets from the k5 seat.
Here is the front k5 seat mount.

So I drove out the pins in the k5 brackets with a hammer and punch. Don't forget to take the little bushings in there also. Here is what you end up with.

Then I unbolted the brackets from the front of the the burb seat to be left with this.

Then I inserted the bushings into the mounting point for the blazer brackets on the burb seat, lined up my brackets and hammered the pins in. It ends up looking like this.

Then I bolted the seats into the factory positions in the k5.

Here is the rear latch mechanism down.

And finally, the finished product.

I don't have 5 posts yet so my pictures don't work. So if someone could reply and add
to the end with out the *'s, the pics will show. Thanks.
So to all the questions on here about putting suburban seats in the rear of a k5. Yes, it is possible. It is perfect fit and bolt in application. Hopefully this helps those of you looking for nice rear seats that can't seem to find them. This whole process took me less that 30 minutes. The only thing I found after completion is that the burb seat belts don't work. Only reason is that my k5 has male ends bolted into the truck but the suburban is supposed to have female ends. No problem though. I just have to run back to the junk yard and snag them. Should be another bolt in application. Good luck!
