I already have the card board headliner piece cleaned and ready for my new foam backed headliner. I have the 3M Auto|Advanced headliner and fabric adhesive. (I am assuming that's the best one for the job.)

I have no clue how to lay out the actual fabric over the folds and the gaps. Is there any guides on how to lay the fabric out for our trucks? I would have to have this look like garbage when I am done.

I was planning on laying it out with the help of my wife, then using a foam roller to kind of smooth out as we go. Do i use extra material in the gaps then sort of pinch it in between the flaps and tuck it?

I was poking around on jeepfourm.com the other day and they had a good write up on headliner replacement. It's in the Cherokee section. Good pics and tech. Hope it helps.

Are you talking about where the cardboard folds in the corners? I think you want to fold them as they go when installed - maybe tape the back side. Then the foam just spans the gap. It's been a long time since I've done one, but I can't remember that part causing much grief.

I had the best luck with "heavy duty headliner adhesive" in the orange can, over the standard headliner adhesive:

I assume you're using the foam-backed material. That stuff hides the cracks pretty well and the glue won't soak through. For single-layer fabric - I don't know.

Doh, I was posting from my phone.

Yeah I have the foam backed stuff. Ill tape up the corners and see how it goes.
