How To Open Barn Door Missing Button

Missing the push button on the barn door of my 91 burb. I heard there was a way to stick a screw driver in it to get it open? Is this true? or do i have to go in and take the panels off the interior to get to the linkage?

Unlock the door, stick a large flat head screwdriver in the hole and push the metal tab back, pulling on the door at the same time.
