its a 80 model that is 2 tone w/trim around the inside color, i want to remove the trim and use a wide pinstipe where the trim was before i sell the k5!

I know that there is a tool for removing the spring clips without damaging the trim, but I don't know the specific procedure for removing the trim. Kinda bringing this back up to the top for you.

I just ripped it off then used a die grinder and a hammer to get those little clips off. Cut the little rivets then hit them with a punch and hammer. Bondo the hole and go for it

i'm trying to salvage the trim, so i don't want to just rip it off. i figured i could grind the holders off w/die grinder or 4'' angle grinder....then use a brush to prime & paint the little spot of bare metal, before i put the wide pinstripe around the 2-tone line.

i have a buddy who has been through collision repair school, 15 years ago & several auto repair courses since 1st school and a few hot rod courses over last 5-6 years(i went to 2 of these w/him, 1st time i used there tools to r&r the rockers on my 68 c-10, 2nd time i went, again just to use their equipment to strip and paint my frame & the interior is restored & ready to go on the same truck, now i want to cut it across the floor at bottom of rear of doors & graft onto my 69 k5 b/c from the step up behind the seats forward are almost beyond repair(the rocker boxes and floors), back of 69 k5 is very clean, and i want to 2wd the 69 k5, so its not out on trails where i would be tempted to try stuff that may damage a rare vehicle, so its getting the 2wd trailing arms & coils moved forward to get k5 wheelbase, anyway enuff about this, i get excited thinking of my 69 k5 w/68 front cap...mmmmm )

back to my buddy tho, he worked at a local body shop after finishing school for little over 2 yrs, then he bought some crazy hi-dollar frame machine, built a shop for paint prep w 3 bays 1 has the frame machine, english wheel, metal break, mig and another 2 bay shop w/a high dollar air filtration system, for painting,

then he put up another shop w/hi-$$$ equipment, he uses this building for any oily or greasy work..he has a sandblast cabinet, parts washier, valve grinding machine..tire mounter, & a machine for refurbishing & balancing connecting rods, a lathe, and a milling machine he says he's saving for a boring machine & an align hone, so he want have to ''farm out'' anything...he now works for himself doing the occasional friends fender benders, but his bread & butter is restoring old chevies tri-5's,67-69 camaro's and all chevelle's up 70 71-72...and pontiac, buick platforms of same years, he prolly has the tool and can tell me how to get the trim off.
