How to remove cigarette smell from vehicles

FABREZE!!! My 90 suburban was bad when I got it and I am allergic to tobacco anything. Interferes with my breathing lol. I sprinkled some Arm & Hammer carpet powder all in it and used the fabreze on the headliner and panels. Took a month or so, but it worked. I am very sensitive to it. My lungs let me know instantly...

Now I need to get rid of a new odor: I spilled some o'riellys power steering fluid in it and now it smells like cat piss!!

BTW I have a cloth covered (front bench) seats. I used the liquid no odor spray fabreze. A little goes quite a ways, I still have 1/2 a bottle of it left.

My (at the time) wife's new gmc got rained in from the sunroof being left open (by me). It stunk like mildew bad. I filled a couple socks with activated charcoal and tied em closed. Put one under each seat and it worked great.

I can assure you, with great confidence, that burning your vehicle to the ground makes it smell far, far worse than a vehicle which has been smoked in, had a cat or mouse infestation or has seats that smell like sweaty backside. RIP 2012 Sierra!

I'm in the reconditioning business and we have a chemical deodorizer. It works well and doesn't leave a nasty film like some other methods. Your burb will smell like a swimming pool only for a day or so and the cigarette will be gone. If you're interested I'll get a price. It's not expensive.
Does anybody know what this magic deodorizer is?

I bought a $50 ozone machine off of Amazon that works pretty good. It removed 99% cig smell from a mattress and the inside of a truck.

Ozium spray or fogger
I've used the Ozium aerosol can. It helps for sure, but is far from a 1-time fix. Maybe spray the whole can in the car and leave it shut for a couple of days? I would usually give it several seconds of spray before leaving the car for the night.

I have a little unit like this, that I didn't notice making any difference over probably 48 hours:

I used those things to clean up my car, and I find it acceptable, but my wife says it still smells like smoke. So I can try harder, but I'm asking now because my daughter's new car *really* smells of smoke. The plan is to hit everything with the upholstery cleaner and possibly pull the carpet for the pressure washer, but I doubt that will be enough. You can never really clean everything.

In a car you need something to go into porous surfaces and kill the source of the smell.
I don't know if Ozium is available in a bomb can, but the freightliner dealership uses one of those cans, activate and close the vehicle, it fumigates and eliminates the odors, the next day it's good.
I bought a truck that was really bad when I inspected it before the detailing and when I went to pick it up it was all good

This is the machine I have. Now that I think about it, seems like the mattress was musty from non climate controlled storage but I left the machine running for a couple of hours in a closed up U-Haul overnight and the smell was gone.

My son in law used it on a Silverado he bought and said it removed almost all of the cigarette smell. I never saw the truck to know first hand but he was really happy with the results.

Any car from my parents had to be de smoked. My brother has gotten two of them to date.he left an Ozium bomb in for 24 hours. Current ride has all the same upholstery as before and no smell. As an ex smoker myself I am now super sensitive to the odor.

We used an item called a “smoke bomb” on smoked in cars at the dealer. Kind of like a bug bomb deal. Pull the pin leave it inside and shut the doors. Leave it for a day, two if it’s really bad.

Works really good leaving it outside to bake in the heat of the day too. I don’t remember where we got it, but I do remember it wasn’t cheap. We only used it on the worst trade ins and I was shocked how well it did work.

I’m pretty sensitive to smoke smell in general with my allergies and on one particular Escalade I was certain the smell would never come out. Like the entire interior was an ashtray. Butts everywhere, ashes all over and a film on every hard surface you could scrape off. My guys physically cleaned the crap out of it to rid it of the butts, ashes and residue. Shampooed the carpet twice. At this point if you left it open it wasn’t bad. Leave it closed up for a day in the heat and the stink would hit as soon as you open the door.

Fired off a smoke bomb and lit it sit for two days. The remaining odor was gone. No kidding. I wouldn’t have believed it had I not seen or smelled it myself.

That's what I was talking about.
It works

My grandpa and dad swore by simple green on a clean rag. Spray the rag down and wipe headliner. Leave the windows up and park in the sun. Worked good for me but not as many cars coming across my plate that are rolling ash trays like the days of old.
