how to remove end cap on steering box?

There is a steel ring that holds it in place, remove the ring and the cap will come out.

Theres a tiny hole in the top of the box just above the ring.
Put a tiny punch or small allen wrench in there and tap it out.

ahh i saw that little hole, so i jus put something small thing in there and hammer it out?

once its out and i put the cap back on, can i swist the cap around to a different location? (its tapped, and the location right now isnt the best) or is there only one way it goes in?

because its tapped for assist, but its not threaded in all the way and i couldnt get it tight enough because it would hit the box. i took it off, put in the teflon tape and got it in real good, then i put it back in. also the angle it was at was awful, the fitting was pointed at the bumper bracket. so now its out of the way of that since i rotated it.

Try to keep the retaining ring in good shape while removing it. Also, open up hte ring just a hair while it is out- this will give it a little extra tension to seat properly. There should be about 1/8 to 1/4" between the ends of the snap ring when installed properly. Make sure that you seat that ring all the way- I got mine "close enough" and it ruined a recent wheeling trip for me. Oh yeah, to get the cap off the end of the box after you remove the ring, just turn the input on hte steering box SLOWLY to the left. The cap should pop right out.

well i got it back in, the ring snapped into place. the fitting location is much better now.
