How to remove trim, molding, and glass on a Suburban? Prepping for paint.

Lack luster progress today. Although it was major progress. The way I keep my garageis very mmuch a cycle. I do a project, don't clean up, then do another project. I'll do that until the garage is a disaster area. Then, I clean it. Today was cleaning day. Fortunately it went well and I did what I told myself in would do and woke up at 8:30 this morning and got busy. After I cleaned, I pulled one of the wheels off the burb and painted it for when they go on the pickup. I plan on doing the swap sometime in the next week or two. That's 64 lug nuts to loosen and re torque. Anyway, I exceeded my bandwidth for this month so you will have to wait to see the wheel paint pics! Lol!

Been seriously lacking motivation on this thing for the past long while now. Not to mention my garage has been tied up for the past month and half with garage sale stupidity. Anyway, now that i have a little bit of the 78 out of my system, i have settled on a game plan. I will be pulling the burb into the garage next week and getting busy with it. Today i just ordered up all the stuff i need to put the outside all back together. Also located a pair of bumpers im going to pick up tomorrow morning. My plan will be to get this thing totally dialed in to its current faze so that i can drive it next spring and summer while i switch over to the 78 being a project. I should have the exterior all set within the next month or thereabouts. Then i have to turn my attention to the interior. Not a resto, just a freshening up. Once thats done im going to re-wire the motor. Not that i really "need" to, but im just not quite satisfied with it. The biggest problem being that its an F body wiring harness. Im going to swap it over to truck style. The oxygen sensors being the main issue. In addition to all that, i REALLY want to have the A/C back up and operational by spring/summer also. Wish me luck! I'll start posting progress pics again soon, i promise!

Lol i know. Had a lot going on lately plus was just severely un motivated after i had to take it back apart to have the paint fixed. Im finally coming back around. And life is slowing down a tad, and my money tree has grown back slightly.

Sure does look good with its proper shoes back on. Also i picked up a new (good used) rear bumper for it today.

That picture makes it look low! I took that as i was heading out to go to work today so i used the zoom on my phone. Makes it look funky i guess. Either way, excited to be excited about this dern thing again!

Nope! Appears we are good to go! Thank goodness... This weekend it should be looking real good as all my stuff comes in and i get it installed! Here's a pic from this morning,

Been making progress. Just not a ton of pic worthy stuff. I'm down to the last few details. I need to do the passenger side molding with my new roll of molding and see if I like it enough to rip off the driver side and do it with the new stuff too. Other than that I need to pull it out of the garage and put it in facing the other direction so I can put on the driver side mirror and wheel arch trim. And that's it for the outside.

Then I'm afraid things will slow again as I save and buy stuff to paint my door jambs. After I finally get them painted I can slap together the rest of the interior. Then make it run correctly, then do the air conditioning. Its a constant project. But I'm hoping to have all of that done by spring/early summer. We'll see. I really want to drive this thing a lot next summer and paint the 78 next summer also. Again, we'll see how it goes.

Sneak peak of the pics that i hope to post tomorrow. The passenger side is completely done. So tomorrow i need to pull it out of the garage, hose it down, take a few pics, then put it in the garage the other direction. Then i can get the driver side wrapped up. Then i need to save my pennys and buy stuff so i can paint the door jambs. I really hope to have that done just after christmas. Anyway, pics.

In other news, my copressor died today. I thought it was sounding a little funny. but im afraid its toasted :(

Some pics from today.

A little late for you now, but you can avoid tape lines around windows in rubber gaskets by jamming a small gauge weed whacker line or similar between the body and the gasket. Got to jam it in there good so it's past the edge of the gasket. Now you tape to weed whaler line. Saves a bunch of labor pulling windows and such.

If you're going to replace the rubber, just cut the old rubber back so it doesn't have to sit around at the shop and get rained in, sanding dust in what's left of the interior, etc.

Believe it or not, that is over spray from the last time it was wrecked and repaired in like 93! But yes, it does need done.
