Got a 14FF sitting in the garage. Spider gears are welded. Last time I looked in the axle the spider gears looked to be welded together pretty good.

How do I go about removing them to replace with a good set that I have?

Looked at some pics of a 14FF open carrier online and it looks like the carrier comes apart or something? Can I just pop the carrier out and separate it and remove the welded stuff?

Doesn't seem like there is enough room to fit a torch or anything in there to cut the from each other which makes it seem that the spider gears would have to have been welded prior to installation...

Just looking for some guidance on this.

Did a little more research. Have to remove the carrier/ring gear. Seperate the ring gear from the carrier and the spiders and cross pin will just pull out.

unbolt carrier and remove from housing .

unbolt JUST the ring gear bolts .

split the 2 halfs real easy .

remove guts and replace with desired guts you want .

line up the arrow that's cast in each half of the carrier faces that mate up .

reverse the removale order . and recheck backlash you should have measured before you removed it .

just hope someone didn't weld them to the carrier . . .

Aren't you supposed to? Orb of traction?
