well im gona be running h1's on my drw60/70hd, but a second set of tires would be nice. i was wondering if there was any way to run the XML's or other military tires that are for 16" rims on DRW axles? or does nobody do that? i know you obviously cant just run a normal 16" since the drw need lots of BS. what would it be like to run dually rims front and rear? would that be safe? would it just look retarded? dare i ask if anybody has tried/successfully done this?

has anybody tried to run the 16" military tires on dually axles on a non-dually application? would running stock 16" dually rims work alright from and rear?

Duh ... seems to me that the issue is the *wheels*, not the *tires*. Tires don't care what axle you run them on.

The issue with the DRW setup is that the WMS is way out towards the edge on the front, so you'll have serious tire scrub on normally centered (i.e. SRW) wheels. This would be mitigated slightly by skinnier tires, but would still affect your steering, turning radius, handling, etc.

Why not just get a second set of H1's for your second set of tires? (or are they 16.5"?)

H1's are 16.5 other wise I would be looking in to some XML's.

I think running dually rims front and rear would look stupid but it would get the job done a lot cheaper then custom wheels. You would also have a huge bulge sticking out on all four corners which might get hung up on stuff

ive already been toying with this idea. but my truck is tall enough to clear a dually fender rather than try to fit insie it. the regular dualy wheel is about 6 inches so wide iirc..the ones I run my xl's on are 6 and 3/4"

its been done.

well i know its obviously the issue of WMS with dually axles. i know the issue is the backspacing on the rims...i was asking if/how people are doing it. ive got drw60/70hd in my k5 and run h1's but was thinkin since the XML/XZL's are really cheap and last forever i could get a set as a highway set of tires, but the issue of rims is what i want to know about. would you have to run front dually rims in the rear as well to make the backspacing similar to that of a SRW axle?

maybe my question wasnt clear before

That is the dumbest show truck I've ever seen...

Well, I was thinking out loud too, couldn't remember if the H1's were 16" or 16.5".

Anyway, you gotta run crazy offset up front with DRW trucks so you don't kill your tires -- otherwise they're trying to turn off center, like, so it's hard on your axle, tires, turn radius, etc.

BUT there's no reason to do that in the back, no. With a wider track rear axle you might lose a little turn radius, but nothing to write home about, and I can't think of any other issue. So if that's what you're asking, sure, you could run a regular set of rims in the back ... might look funny, tires might stick out past the body which might irritate Johnny Law, but no technical reason not to. It's only the front you gotta have the dually/H1 style wheels.

maybe I missed something here..

you want to run dualy tire and rims...what you need sire is to put dually hubs on your rear axle...problem solved

for the front, I dont like the look, if I went this route I would leave the front alone

If you just plan on using the xmls on the highway I don't see a problem with running front dually rims on all four corners. On the trail I see them hanging up on stuff. Like dremu said though you wouldn't really need them in the back unless cops are strict about those type of things where you live. Also if you ran them on the back you would get the bulge of the wheel then another inch or so of hub which might look really stupid
