I bought new brake cables for my rig, but they're too long. How do I get these plastic clips off of the end of the tube so I can shorten them? Is it possible? If not, where can I buy new ones?

The cables I got from rockauto had metal swaged on ends. I (unswaged) them carefully hammering the correct size screwdriver around it. After I got both Cable housings where I wanted them I recrimped the ends back on. Then I cut the inner cables to the length I needed. Not sure if you can get the plastic ends off without breaking. Haven’t ran into those type.

I figured it out.

The plastic clip is threaded onto the tube.

I cut off about 3" of the tube after pulling the cable back into the tube about 6 inches.

The center of the tube is melted/molded onto the clip. I took a 1/4" drill bit to drill that out, then the clip just unscews. Note that it is reverse threaded (for some reason) so: lefty tighty righty loosey.

Just passing along knowledge for others.
