I've got a local boneyard that says they have a van width 14FF in their 'pile' of rear-ends. If I go to get this I want to make sure it is a van-width. I know the shafts are longer but is there anyway to tell by looking at the housing or is there any measurements I can take?

Also, it supposedly came out of a 1993 diesel van, will all the 'guts' from my late 70's 14FF drop in?

Thanks for any help.

if it is that new (1986+) it will have a ribbed/finned housing, unlike the older ones. Everything would swap except for the 3rd pinion support bearing, it is larger on the newer ones.

Cool, Thanks for the info.

Any easy way to measure the housing?? It can be kind of tough to measure WMS to WMS without bending the tape.

what i always do when measuring axles that aren't in a vehicle is to measure backing plate to backing plate, then add the width of the drums/hubs. it's easier than trying to get the tape measure to stay put actually measuring directly from wms-wms.
