How well will this perform?

heavy4x4 should plug that crane cam into desktop dyno and compare the numbers to some of the cams he already tested.

Consider it done. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Using the same variables as I did with the other tests I ran (vortec heads, headers, etc):

Comp Cams Xtreme 256-
2000 RPM; 133 HP...349 TQ
5000 RPM; 308 HP (peak)
3500 and 4000 RPM; 360 TQ (peak)

Crane Power Max H-266-2
2000 RPM; 133 HP...350 TQ
5000 RPM; 296 HP (peak)
3500 RPM; 362 TQ (peak)

Erson E11001
2000 RPM; 138 HP...361 TQ
5000 RPM; 295 HP (peak)
3500 RPM; 364 TQ (peak)

They all seem like good choices, looks like either one of those will be the combination I will go with. Around 300hp & 350lbs/ft of fairly low torque. Now I gotta find out what carb /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
Thanks for running those on the D.Dyno /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

For Comparison, my Motor with Vortec heads in Desktop Dyno:

355, Vortec Heads, Headers, Dual Plane intake, 650 carb, Clevite RV cam-

2000 RPM; 145 HP...380 TQ
4500 and 5000 RPM; 311 HP (peak)
3500 RPM; 392 TQ (peak)

my setup seems to have much more bottom end torque. Different flow numbers could account for some discrepencies. Desktop Dyno is definetally a good way to figure what could be a good setup but no way to actually dyno a motor.

I ran my motor with the Comp 4x4 extreme 12-231-2, the lowest cam and it came out with almost 100% the same numbers as my cam, 1 horsepower less there, 1 more there.
When I switched to GM 882 Iron heads the numbers barely changed as well. Switching to another flow chart for Vortecs upped my peak numbers by about 5. Many variables but I like the RV cam or lowest cam setup in any truck, if I could redo it all I would do different on my motor would be a good balance job. It revs up to about 6000 RPMs fine but I'd be happier if it was happier doing it, ignition would help.

Fry....you need to STROKE that 350. FYI here is my 388 with the Comp 12-235-2 cam on DD2000:

2000rpm 176hp 462tq (peak tq)
4500rpm 331hp 386tq (peak hp)

TORQUE is your friend! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

When can I get a ride in your truck? /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Heck....Delafield is only 3 hrs away....come on down!

Subfan has been up to my place 3 times and he has yet to get a ride. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif Next time.... /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

stroking would be my best bet indeed but cost wise I'm concerned. Your motor sounds hot though.
I really don't have a compotent motor shop around here, the closest one would be about 2hrs away and they are exspensive. I also checked out stroked short blocks but they seem to be like $2000 more than a standard short block or even the complete 260hp Goodwrench motor, with that 2gs extra a guy could put the aforementioned carb, cam, heads, & intake.
I have seen the rotating assembles from hardcore and summit, the summit one appears to have to be balanced but the hardcore one appears internally balanced, but for $1500 you might as well get the short block.
I doesn't seem like alot but in Candian funds its x1.6 so its alot for me.
Anybody know of any good quality cheaper stroker rotating assemblies? What about machining what needs to be done to do a stroker?
Thanks

Very nice of you to plug those in. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Heres an older shot (FWIW) of my Vortec TPI motor. DD2K doesn't give you option for changing some of the variables (or I didn't) like the induction CFM, but I also didn't plug headers into that equation either. Header approx. gain is something like +30 in both columns with that setup.

Also, you'll see torque is falling where DD2K starts, but it looks like it peaks at 2000RPM. Perfect for my gears and tranny. Of course, gotta have the usual disclaimer, this is benchracing, none of the numbers are proven true. But again, Desktop Dyno is a good way to determine what kind of effect changing each component will have.

"Basic" is just changing the crank and pistons. The external and internal balancing thing needs to be addressed too....

Believe I have seen stroker kits for $500....
