Recently installed the Howell Injection TBI conversion on my K5. I ordered online and within 15 minutes Troy called to get some more specifics about the build and my setup (Vortec heads, mild 4x4 cam). He also recommended the VSS speed sensor adapter to control the lockup of the 700R4, which I went with because I've never been thrilled about the vacuum-actuated factory setup. I also went with electronic timing control. Everything arrived in two days.

Some say it's an expensive way to go for a mostly factory setup, but there is something to be said for brand new/refurbished components you can have confidence in, a chip burned by someone who knows what they're doing, and a harness that is custom-built and not all hacked up. Everything installed easily, the only modifications I had to do was lengthen the power wires to the battery and fuel pump. Fired right up on the first go and runs great. It's nice to not have to deal with any of the typical carb crankiness, and it didn't miss a beat on the trail. If anyone is considering their work I can recommend it.

Damn you CK5! You keep feeding my habit!

That said, I just finished doing up my Howell TBI conversion. I had some hiccups mostly due to the age of my truck (hot air choke) and having to wait on parts that I couldn't source locally.

But their parts are top-notch quality, the instructions are thorough if a bit disorganized, and it really did start on the first try.

Speaking of starting, we've had our first cold snap here, and the truck starts on the first crank without having to whang on the gas pedal and wave a dead chicken while praying to the Quadrajet gods.

What magic is this? :haha:
