I have recently started a tbi conversion. I have gone with the Howell set up. I have had used an electric fuel pum my tank was bad so I bought a new tank. I also bought a new 4 out in sending unit. It has the 5/16 3/8 1/4 return and the large tube. Is there a reason that will not work?

As long as all your fittings will address how you are delivering fuel

I added an 87 v20 sender on my 77 tank at one point and that worked fine

it will work, 3/8 fuel output, 5/16 fuel return, 1/4 is vent to charcoal can. large tube is vent and connected to tank inlet hose.

Thank you. The issue now is the filler neck is 1 3/8 and the tank is 1 3/4. The road to hell is filled with good intentions.

Yes I lucked out and was able to reuse the factory fill neck when I added a Blazer tank and moved my filler neck.

Is changing the filler neck an option?

Conversions are great

Well I will have to go to the 87 v20 sending unit. The return on my current unit is only 1/4 I am going to see if I can find the correct tank with a 1 3/8 neck. I can not find an adapter for that. I don’t want to move to the other side of the truck. I don’t now about cutting the neck off the old tang and putting it on the new tank.

For reference, I used the saddle tanks and an 87 sender from a saddle tank

Then added a 31 gallon TBI tank and sender, which I connected back to my original filler neck

This may or may not help...

Just for clarification, did you buy a tank for that was a replacement for the '87 to '91 Blazer and suburbans? If so, then I assume that you are getting a sender for a V20 suburban, which should be the same as the Blazer one as far as I know. The you just need a filler neck for one of them to match the tank, and it should bolt into your '78 K5.

As far as the fuel lines, you may be able to find connectors to work with your existing, lines and get the pressure rating up, but I would look at the lines to make sure that they are on good shape. You may be better off to run a new pressure line and then you can put the filter in somewhere that you like. The factory TBI filter was by the transfer case and maybe wasn't the greatest location for some people's taste.

I slid a set of factory lines from a '90 Blazer into my '79 frame, but it may not be an option for you if you can't find a decent set, and the body on, may interfere with the installation.

@500$k5 did a conversion on his '78, I don't remember what he did on his lines for sure.

After talking with Bent I think I am on the right track. I ordered a sending unit and tank for a 87 blazer. The sending unit will have the pump in the tank. Fuel lines are all that is left. I can get a new set for 115 unless some one has some they are willing to sell.

We are think about using the fitting on the new lines we ran
