Newbie Question Can't figure out how to get a finer spray. It's I'd guess about twice the size of a rattle can. I'm painting the underside & frame so it doesn't really have to be better but I'd like to figure it out for the future.

Paint said to use 20 - 50 PSI and 1.0-1.7 tip. I have it set at 40 psi and am using a 1.4 tip.

Thanks

what are you spraying (helps dictate what needle and cap setup to use), and how much are you thinning it?

count how long it takes to stop dripping off a paint stick...

generally, for a proper full size fan, you want both the fan and fluid control adjustments about 80% open..

Right now I'm spraying Rust Bullet. They claim the stuff in the silver can doesn't need to be thinned so I haven't. I'd guess my controls are currently set at about 1/3 open so I'll check that.

The drip count. I take it the count is from the first drip, instead of a solid pour line, to the last?

nope, mix the paint with a paintstick, pull it out and count missisips till it basically stops..

spraying is all based on viscosity, no matter what rust bullett says.. its a function of the paint thickness and needle/cap..

I'm betting you'll see at least a 10 count.. WAY too thick... you'll need a 1.7 tip minimum to spray thicker stuff, but even then you can be limited by the viscosity, if too thick...

narrowing your fan will help put material out.. it's not trying atomize it as much..
