I just bought a 14bff and was given the front axle out of the same truck free. I'm trying to figure out what the hubs are. It looks to be a Dana 44 but the hub looks funny to me.
Basically looking at it from the end where you would mount the rim. It has the usual 6 small Allen head screws then it expands out and has 6 larger allen head bolts. Is this a Dana 44 or something different.
I will try to post a picture if my tab will ever let me.

1st Design axle, external bearing hub type, up to 1977.

Thank you. That's exactly what I was hoping to hear. Sounds like its time for my blazer to get new axles. Will the raised steering arm from my corp. 10 bolt bolt on that it looks like it will.
This along with the sway bar disconnects moves me one step closer to getting out of this state and into a free state.

Yes steering arms are interchangable between the two axles.

It's a less desirable style of lockout and hub. You could swap your current outers onto that axle if you wanted but personally I beat the hell out of external lockouts with no issues. Just needed to tighten and replace the 6 hex bolts as they liked to loosen and fall out.

It's a less desireable style, but perfectly useful. There is less aftermarket support for the external hub design.

Well I am going to replace the bearings and install it with the current outers. Then I'll keep my eyes open for a set of the newer style outers. So I would need everything from the knuckle out.

You won't need to change the knuckles. If you don't plan to do anything with the knuckles, like crossover steering, then keep them or sell them to offset the cost of switching over to the internal bearing hub stuff.
Otherwise I'd leave the knuckles alone and just swap the spindles and bearing hubs out.

I plan to go crossover as soon as money allows. But first I figure adding some zero rates to the front and shackle flip the rear with new drive shafts . I'm currently running a set of rough country 4in springs in the front with blocks in the rear and want to go about an inch higher.
I can't believe I was able to get 2 axles complete for less than I was quoted to re-gear the corp. 10 bolts I had. And I already have a set of rims and 35" tires that are 8 lug from my old ford I sold to get this blazer. So Im killing 2 birds here replacing the worn out 33s that I was running and correcting the gearing at the same time.
